This is an excellent cutting mat for leather work and crafts, here's why:First, the softness is perfect: So it allows your knife to cut into the mat slightly, preventing damage to your table or main work surface, but also preventing your knife from going completely through the mat and damaging or even cutting it in half. At the same time, the softness prevents unnecessary wear to your knife itself. Before this, believe it or not, I was actually using an old chair mat for a cutting mat, but my tools dulled very quick. This mat has made a huge difference in my work process.Also, it is a great thickness, with multiple layers. The topmost layer is quite soft, perfect for cutting on, while the inner layer is harder and provides a firmness to this mat. However, it is vital to use and store this mat flat; otherwise, it will develop a curve.By the way, to extend the life of these mats, I've read that it's best to keep them hydrated. So I put some water on mine monthly to keep the cutting surface and membrane soft and supple. I want this to last a long time.Third, the markings on the green side are super useful when laying out and cutting material. You can see the amount of wear and tear on the Green side - which I've used almost exclusively.This has been a great value for me. The only con - if you want to call it that - is that I wish it were a little bigger. Still, I would buy this again because the features and size work well for a small maker's space.

I like that the mat has different measurements on either side. It’s very sturdy and heavy and the surface is pleasant to touch. One thing I wish it had (and of course I can always drill some myself) is a couple of appropriately-spaced holes in one of the short sides so I could insert a loop to allow me hand the mat in the wall out of harm’s way. Since it should not be stored in direct sun or over a heat source and must be kept flat, finding a suitable spot for it is difficult as I don’t have a dedicated workroom and must set up on the dining table - where the mat cannot remain all the time. I chose this size as it is big enough to work on, yet doesn't consume my 2 x 4 ft table.

I had another mat sent but when opened it had deep cuts in it so returned for another. seems to be just fine alot more economical than others and durable

I took a lot of time researching the correct size mat for me. I always cut my pattern pieces with scissors but I wanted to try using a rotary cutter. I like the size of this mat as I am able to get most of my fabric on the mat when I make my cuts. The grid and measurements are a dream. I also like the self-healing properties. Great buy!

Die Matte ist sehr robust und sehr schön groß. Ich schneide darauf Fondant mit einem Skalpell (rolle ich vorher darauf auch aus) und sie hält. Bis jetzt noch kein Ritzer drin. Sehr gut, ich bin begeistert!
