When I was young I always wanted to learn how to play music, it never mattered to me what musical instrument. Those dreams I had as a child came flooding back when I read this book. However, lessons for me as a child wasn’t allotted in the household budget. I never lost the drive for music. The book was a trip down memory lane. My great niece is in the high school band and is reading the book because of her interest in music.

My eighth grader is learning to play the guitar, and I wanted to support his efforts. I found the information in the book to be interesting and helpful, especially the music theory.

Easy to understand book on music theory as it pertains to the instrument. Somewhat condensed information, but full of useful information.

A clear and practical guide for guitarists to learn and apply music theory easily. Perfect for playing with more confidence and creativity. Highly recommended.

Did this book get proofread before it was published??? Obviously NOT!So far I have come across totally INACCURATE information!!!Page 45 - A major scale has the following step pattern: The CORRECT pattern is:W-W-H-W-W-W-HNot what he has written!Page 46 he has the WRONG pattern for minor scale! Correct is:W-H-W-W-H-W-WPgs 50 and 51 are completely Wrong!In C major the Major chords are C F GMinor chords are dm em am bmI’ve been playing guitar and studying music for over 50 years!I’m afraid to read this book any further!🙄🫣😬I guess buyer beware! But this inaccurate of a book should not have been allowed to be published!!!

Music Theory for Guitarists covers the basics of scales, chords, melody, harmony, and rhythm. It suffers, though, from a lack of illustrations, such as tabulature or chord diagrams. It does have some pictures, but they are not very useful for the task at hand. For instance the book describes how to finger a D suspended chord, telling you where to put your fingers instead of giving you a visual representation. Aside from that, the theory is helpful.

Music Theory for Guitarists is an excellent guide that simplifies music theory, making it easier to grasp and apply to guitar playing. The author breaks down complex topics like chord construction and scale patterns into easy-to-understand explanations. For example, instead of overwhelming readers with technical jargon, the book uses simple diagrams to show how major and minor chords are built and where to find them on the fretboard. I also appreciated how it teaches the Circle of Fifths in a way that directly applies to guitar playing, helping guitarists understand key signatures and transitions smoothly. A great resource to make it easier for guitarists to gain confidence and enjoy playing.
