Two things are essential when selecting a watercolor medium: the composition of the paper and its thickness. This sketchbook hits both of these with 100% acid-free 300gsm paper. The paper takes multiple washes without problem, and the 300gsm thickness means very limited bucking of the paper when lots of water is used. The hardcover makes pre-sketching easy, and the binding allows the book to be easily laid flat.It's an excellent sketchbook that will be on my repeat purchase list.

Leather quality is very good. Paper is also very good.

I’ve really enjoyed working in this sketchbook, mostly because of the quality of the paper. The soft leather cover is a joy to hold, and because the pages are removeable, I can get rid of work that might not be “worthy” (ha ha) of such a beautiful sketchbook. This will become my prize sketchbook, I’m sure of it.

Lays flat, high quality paper and binders. Opens and closes, pages don’t catch on binder when turning. You can also refill. Pretty green cover, too.

Th notebook is sturdy and handsome — worthy of a long life of reuse. The rings open easily. The paper is definitely 100% cotton. The hot press texture is very nice. The only thing missing is REFILLS!

This watercolour book from Lightwish is refillable and stunning in a blotted green colour! It's smooth to the touch with a magnetic closure and the binder rings were nice and sturdy so they didn't fall apart or warp when opening and closing dozens of times during my durability test. There is a leather grain and leather smell to this hardcover sketchbook so I am wondering if it is real leather or not as it definitely smells like it up close when sniffling it.The paper is a nice and thick hot press watercolour paper that measures 5.75" x 8.25" and it was nice quality to use. The best part about this book is that it's refillable so even long after the paper is gone, you can punch holes in your own watercolour paper to refill it. I would probably get it for the refillable journal design alone but the hot pressed watercolour paper was an excellent added treat as I was able to get several washes and scrubbing out of the 100% cotton paper. :)I think if the size of the paper is attractive to you and you want a refillable sketchbook for watercolour or other things, this is excellent. The sketchbook is nice and sturdy because it isn't floppy or soft so I think it's a good deal.

The media could not be loaded. Better than expected. The book is sturdy and look pretty nice.I haven't tried to paint on the page yet. But I already know I will add more page to it as i really like the cover!

A terrible shame...this is a beautiful and sturdy sketchbook, just the size I wanted. However, there are dark flecks on almost every page. It could be how the item was stored before arriving, or it could be the natural characteristic of the paper. I'm not taking a chance with mould, so I'm returning it.Also note: the cold press paper is not textured on both sides as shown. I'm sure you could try painting on the back as shown in the photo, but you'd get very different results in how the paint reacts with the paper. This should be made absolutely clear in the description.Finally, there's no assurance of brand or paper composition on the sketchbook. It comes with no labels, and I'm wary of anything that advertises 100 percent cotton on Amazon, but offers no concrete assurance on the product itself.Buyer proceed with caution...

Love the sketchbook, I have tried a few other brands with disappointing results before I purchased this. I just started painting so don’t have a lot of other papers to compare to, but it works amazing with wet on wet. I wish it came in a bigger size!

This sketchbook comes with hot-press (smoother) watercolor paper that is nice and thick (300gsm). The binder itself is great, has a large enough ring system to hold all the paper it comes with and a bit left over for other papers, and the buckle closes with a magnet properly, remaining closed reliably.

Thick 100% cotton watercolour paper. Cold press. Suitable for drawing landscapes. The cover is nice and sturdy. Love it.
