Good
These red beans are a good bulk food. I like that they're shelf stable and it will make a ton. I used my pressure cooker and they turned out fine. Good for chili, in tacos, etc.

Great red beans
I'm not used to red bean honestly, I ordered these thinking they were azuki red beans - for those of you who might be confused they are NOT azuki!I had this sitting for a while not sure what to do with it, but I attempted my first bean dish and boy.. is there a lot in this bag. I didn't do a good job of soaking it or boiling it long enough and it was a bit tough so there will be trial and error for those who aren't used to it.But I will say this seems like a great quality and the beans are pretty uniformly shaped and big! It's great that it's organic although not truly sure what that entails. Product of bolivia.

Don't buy
I purched this item expecting 5lbs of beans it is not even 5 lbs in the closed package it came in. At most you will only get 4 lbs. Don't buy it. Unless you want to get ripped off.

Not 5lbs :(
Like other reviewers, my bag was also shorted by about 1/4 pound (including the heavyweight paper bag so even a bit more than that). I weighed my bag before opening, and it weighed 4 pounds 12 ounces. If this happened once, I'd think it was just a one off error, but it seems like many customers are saying they received same under weight product. The beans themselves seem to be quality beans, although there are no cooking instructions on the packaging (which is also quite annoying, especially if a person was not an experienced cook like myself). There are minimal instructions on the Amazon page:1. Rinse & Drain - Rinse dried beans under cold water.2. Prepare - Place beans in a large pot or dutch oven. Add water to cover beans by about 2 inches.3. Cook - Bring water to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer, partially covered, until beans are tender.4. Serve & Enjoy! Check if beans are ready by trying one, serve and enjoy! For a person who's not confident in the kitchen, I can see how that might be kind of intimidating to not have any timeframe reference at all, just "cook until tender".If they were to include cooking instructions, and the correct amount of product, this could easily be a five star. But as it is, I cannot give it perfect stars.

Not bad
Good beans. The skin looks distressed, i don't know if how it's supposed to be. Appears to be fresh. Good value, can be used in various dishes.

Be sure to soak and cook well before eating. Can be subbed for kidney beans in recipes.
Greenfit Oriental Red Beans - 5lbs Bulk Bag | Non-GMO, Gluten-Free, Vegan-Friendly | Premium Quality, Plant-Based Protein, Healthy & Versatile CookingFirst impressions: Nice large bag half full of beans. The beans look fresh and are ready to cook.Installation/setup: Soak the beans for at least 5 hours in water, then drain and discard the water. The beans should be boiled for 10 minutes at 100 degrees C (212 degrees F). To be safe, consumers should boil the beans for at least 30 minutes to ensure that the product reaches sufficient temperature to destroy a mild toxin that can cause gastric discomfort. This toxin is the same in most beans and legumes. Can be substituted for kidney beans in recipes.Final thoughts: Kidney beans, or red beans, contain a natural protein, Lectin, that is found in many plants, animals and humans. However, at high levels, like that found in raw or undercooked kidney beans, the protein can act as a toxin. How to properly cook beans and destroy toxins:Beans should be soaked in water for at least five hours.Soaking water should be dumped, and the beans should be boiled in fresh water for at least 30 minutes.Do not use a slow cooker. Slow cookers do not get hot enough to destroy the toxins in beans. The science from the internet: Lectins are widely occurring, sugar-binding proteins, but some of them may become toxic at high levels. Lectins are known for their ability to agglutinate many mammalian red blood cell types, alter cell-membrane transport systems, alter cell permeability to proteins, and generally interfere with cellular metabolism, according to the Food and Drug Administration. Among the lectins known to have toxic effects is phytohemagglutinin (PHA), which occurs at high levels in the seeds of legumes. This compound is the legumes seeds’ natural defense against plant pests and pathogens. PHA is destroyed by adequate cooking. Some variation in toxin stability has been found at different temperatures. However, it has been found that boiling the beans for 10 minutes at 100 degrees C (212 degrees F) completely destroyed the toxin. To be safe, consumers should boil the beans for at least 30 minutes to ensure that the product reaches sufficient temperature, for a sufficient amount of time, to completely destroy the toxin. Slow cookers should not be used to cook the beans or dishes that contain them. Studies of casseroles cooked in slow cookers revealed that the food only reached internal temperatures of 75 degrees C (167 degrees F) or less. Several outbreaks have been associated with beans cooked in slow cookers or in casseroles that had not reached an internal temperature high enough to destroy the Lectin. Symptoms of poisoning include vomiting and diarrhea within a few hours of eating the raw or undercooked beans. Only a few beans are needed to cause poisoning.⭐️1 star - I don't recommend it at all, poor quality.⭐️⭐️ 2 stars - I don't recommend it, it has multiple faults, or a very high price.⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3 stars - It's passable, It has some faults but the quality is ok for what it is.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 stars - Product quite acceptable, it does what it promises.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 stars - Product that I totally recommend.
