Q: how long is the attachment hose? i want to be able to sweep my stairs with out carrying it up and down them.

The hose is seven feet long max. Depending on the height and number of stairs, you will probably have to tote the vacuum up and down. We have seven steps and we live in a tri-level. I would have to carry it up and down, but we have a vacuum for every level in our house. So, I do half of the stairs with one vacuum, the other half with the other vacuum. I am either very smart or very, very lazy. I pick number two. Good luck!!!!

Q: does it spread dust in air

No, the storage parts for dust are plastic, I cannot see dust in the air at all.

Q: IS THIS VAC SELF PROPELLED?

No, but it is easy to push and maneuver.

Q: Are you pleased with the suction and clean up on hardwood floors? My other hoover just blows the mess around and never sucks it up.

We must've gotten a defective vacuum. Or too good of suction. Ours doesn't work on hard floors without it being set on high height and beater brush on. It sucks to the floor on any lower setting. It can't be moved because it's stuck to the floor. Only time I've ever complained about too good of suction.
