The Art and Science of the Stiletto
My husband gave me this book for my 71st birthday. The story from the 1950's about adding steel rods to make thin stiletto heels reminded me of a friend's father, an engineer constructing a local dam, saying there was more pressure per square inch on the heel of a 120 pound woman wearing these shoes than on any place in a dam. I still love my stilettos. I enjoyed the beautiful photography in this book and highly recommend it to anyone interested in fashion or engineering.

Coffee Table Book
I thought it was nice, but it was underwhelmed by the quality of the content once I received it. Wouldn't purchase again.

Great book! I loved the exhibit
Great book! I loved the exhibit, so I had to get the book!! However, the exhibit was better. I wish the book told more stories about the shoes, like when they were on display. I was sad not to see the Ruby slippers, and Marilyn Monroe's shoes. There were also some crazy cowboy boots that were not pictures. Again, great book!!!

Great coffee table book of interest to both sexes!
My wife of 46 years has always been 'into' high heeled shoes since being a small girl and I have always appreciated them on the opposite sex since the age of about 6 (!); - being somewhat in awe of the women (or rather ladies!) who wore the higher and thinner ones. Thus, with my wife's collection of over 300 pairs of 'heels', this purchase is an excellent coffee table book that along with others on fashion, architecture, wildlife, cats, food & wine, cars, antiques, militaria, guns, armour, and swords, explains our interests, our décor, and (on a material level) who we are.
