I have used 0% aluminium deodorants for years but it is getting harder to find them in high street chemists. Thank goodness I found Fussy and I certainly won’t be going back to my old brands. Fussy’s deodorants have a range of fragrances to choose from and because I’m not a fan of sweet smells I chose the Lime, Mandarin and Basil. The smell is subtle but really refreshing and the deodorant stick itself feels wonderful on the skin. I love the fact that the refill cartridges are compostable and easy to use. It might sound silly but I’m over the moon with this deodorant and I will certainly be telling my friends and family all about it.

I suppose you could call this a starter kit. It contains one refillable plastic case and 3 refills. The plastic case is the only bit of plastic is sight. The packaging is made entirely of card and the refills are product inside a card case. Once the product has been depleted the card case can be composted.This is a deodorant not an anti-perspirant so you will still sweat naturally but there shouldn’t be any unpleasant odour. Contains Lactobacillus, a good bacterium that scientifically proven to inhibit the growth of odour causing bacteria. Contain all natural ingredients and excludes aluminium. Looking at the ingredient list I would have thought it would have been quite creamy, but no it’s a solid waxy block. It’s quite a wide block, application is easy, one quick swipe is all that is needed. Leaves no visible residue, just a slight sheen.Comes in a variety of fragrance options and also unscented. I have the Tropic Tonic option which is the familiar Lime, Basil and Mandarin scent. Fragranced with natural essential oils, the scent isn’t too strong. The plastic case is a pleasant matt plastic and coloured a light-coloured mint green. The case is spoilt by transfer of orange ink from the packaging, some of it came off after trying to rub it off but not all. The case is quite bulky and measure approx. 12cm x 7cm and we are told it should last a lifetime, I’m not too sure about this claim. The lid doesn’t feel particularly tight and I’m sure with repeated use it will become too loose and need replacing. A set of 3 refills are currently available on Amazon for £17.10 and a single refill can be purchased for £6.00.

I love Fussy so much! It has such a sleek design and easy to refill. I am quite fond of the smell as well, I don’t need to reapply during the day.

I like the colour of the deodorant bottle and the nice matte finish and texture. The dye of the cardboard did mark the outside for a few cleans though. Doesn't stand up well (very small flat segment to the base and wide but narrow so not stable). The deodorant smells nice, not too sure about how well it works yet (it's winter and also people say you should allow time to get used to it). I haven't noticed smelling particularly worse though.Easy to apply. The consistency is both creamy but also slight coarse/gritty elements. It really doesn't last long though - I've been using it for about 3 weeks and finished the first refill. Note there is not a refill preloaded so you have a total of 3 so lasting under 3 months. Recyclable packaging and less of it is a definite plus, but with the refills being less than a standard deodorant (which is also recyclable but plastic instead of cardboard), it is significantly more expensive, both to start and going forwards. I will continue to try it for the other 2 refills and see how it fares.

The orange ink from the box transfers on to the stick during presumably during storage and shipping. Looks naff on arrival for the customer and amateur. Stick comes empty with no cartridge installed so you think you are getting 3 spares but in actual fact you only get 2. It’s awful when businesses try to deceive knowing most don’t fully read the what’s in the box section and just use the photo as contents. To finish it off the little cartridges didn’t fit in the stick itself. It was way too tight and ended up ripping the sides of the cartridge off and the base. So tried again with second cartridge same thing. Have sent it back for refund. Expensive for such poor design, implementation and packaging. 1/5

Unfortunately this isn't an anti-perspirant, this along with other downsides for me such as the case doesn't stand upright so it's like a bar of soap and the instructions say initially it may make you sweat more and even make you smell a bit funky. This isn't a risk I'm willing to take when I'm going to work during the summer, so I won't be making the switch to using it permanently.The refill system is great, really straightforward to lock and load and reduces single-use plastic waste which is something we should all be doing. The refills are made from bagasse/sugarcane which further removes waste (as bagasse is a byproduct that is usually burnt after sugarcane processing) this means the refills will completely biodegrade after a few months.If they hadn't mentioned the fact you might stink for a few weeks, I'd probably have made the switch without a thought, but they did, so I can't.This is a really well packaged, really well made natural deodorant and if I can find a couple of weeks were I'm not going to be around many people I'll start using it and make the change, until then I'm not brave enough. Maybe I'm too fussy?
