fit n feel with slight mod to scabbard
Feels good in hand , blade is sharp , generally a beautiful piece. The scabbard is a nice tight fit and the knife slides smoothly out on demand with a slight modification to the retainer strap. I do not like the handle retaining strap on the scabbard. As with many knives , when the retainer is unsnapped it interferes with removing the knife from the scabbard. I did not remove the retainer strap but I did push it back through the leather slots and snap it back behind the belt holder . In this location there is not interference for wearing the scabbard or drawing the knife. With this modification I have no concern that the knife will freely fall from the scabbard during normal non eventful wear and if there is an event that requires access there will be no hang ups.

Good knife
Quality blade it was given as a father's day gift to a friends dad who is a former marine. He enjoyed the well balanced well made blade. the historical.connection to his Marine corps raider family who served before him combined with the well made knife made for a gift that he's proud to own

Would have been more stars if not for the price, or workmanship problems.
Workmanship issues: Lose cross guard. The wooden grips panels are poorly finished. There is an indentation of the mirror blade finish which was polished over, without anyone in quality control noticing. Tool marks are noticeable under the mirror finish.Design issues: Not true to the original design of John Ek. The blade was supposed to be 7" long, and the overall length of the knife is supposed to be 12" long. This knife however measures 12 and 5/8 overall, with a 6 and 5/8 inch blade.

I was nervous but now I have no regret
I normally dont wrote reviews because let's be honest half are fake or kinda pointless. Bought this for my father and it is absolutely beautiful. Something timeless and yet effective and extremely capable. If you want a gorgeous knife that will overshadow anyone's with a hundred years of rich history definitely buy one.

Disappointed
I am a avid knife, Milsurp and 1911 collector, and have many knives costing between $30 and four digits. The best thing about this knife is the finish of the blade. It’s pristine! The sheath is also knife. That’s where it stops. The handle is glossy lacquered, and has a bunch of dirt in it; it looks rough and not sanded, the guard was loose. I was able to overlook 440C steel because of the gorgeous design, but the other negatives make this a QUICK return decision.Very disappointed KABAR. This is a wonderful concept, but the execution is equal to a $80 product at most. I wouldn’t even pay that for a knife with a flimsy, loose handguard. Given this, I would not recommend this product.

Nearly perfect
This is a great quality EK style knife. 100% made in the USA. Blade is razor sharp, mirror polished, and perfectly symmetrical. Sheath is high quality thick leather. My only complaint is the fit and finish of the handle/scales. Given the perfection found in the blade, sheath, and hardware; the scales are lacking this perfection. The fit of the scales is a little off. They are smaller than the width of the tang and metal scale can be seen and felt on both sides. The finish is a glossy lacquer of some sort. It looks like the scales weren’t sanded very smooth before the scales were clear coated. If this knife was in the $100 range I wouldn’t gripe about the scales imperfections but in the $200 range, I expected near perfection. The scales are far from perfect. That said, this knife looks great until you really dissect it and I would purchase again.

one awesome knife!
This is one awesome and scary sharp knife. Beware and don't put it in the sheath before inserting something to open it up some. I made the mistake in doing so and it's so sharp it sliced right out the back of the sheath midway and into my index finger all the way to the bone with no effort at all. I'm thinking a Kydex sheath would be a better choice if one decided to actually use the knife. I own all three of the prior models of which will be wearing Micarta grips soon, the black plastic takes away from the knifes value I believe . I own two original EK's and feel Ka-Bar did an great job making them.

KA-BAR EK is Top notch
A nice piece to add to your collection. It is well made, and is a full tang construction. It is also visually appealing, and a nice tribute to Ek knives. Functionally this is a serious piece of equipment.

Quality is not worth the money
The media could not be loaded. Just received my Ka bar commando presentation knife. Over $300 I paid off Amazon and I am very disappointed. Knife looks beautiful but the finish is not nice. Guard rattles straight out of the box. Driving me nuts now every time I hold it. The wood is nice but attention to detail in fitting the wood to the handle looks lije a cheap knife. Last Ka Bar I buy very disappointed 😡
