Q: Are the sections of the couch held together by something? Is there anything that keeps them connected and prevents them from moving apart?

There is a clip system that attaches to the underside of all of the pieces. It holds the couch together sturdily but it's also easy to take it apart.

Q: Is this a corner (equal sides) sectional or a L-sectional (one side longer than the other)? The product dimensions of 39.5 x 163 x 33.5 make no sense

Hi Oasky, The sectional is composed of 3 pieces, EEI-1792, right arm loveseat (35" x 73"), EEI-1795, left arm loveseat (35" x 73") and EEI-1796, corner (29" x 29"). Have a great day!

Q: Is this sectional good as a long term, raising a family investment? If purchased, it would get a lot of abuse over the years. What's your experience?

We have a toddler and two dogs. We recently purchased a new couch, but we’re able to regift that one and it was in great condition. I really enjoyed that couch and would purchase again. My advice would be to purchase a spot cleaner, like the little green machine. It’ll help maintain the integrity of the cushions and covers better than taking them off to wash. I did get a tear in one of the covers after trying to shove the mattress back in. Wasn’t terrible, but I could have avoided that, I think. It’s huge and comes in two big boxes! The wooden legs are great quality and the material feels kinda like a tweed.. the material was so great and the cushions never lost their shape. 10/10. Buy it.

Q: Are the seat cushions made of foam?

Actually, your question is timely because my dog just happened to pee all over them yesterday so I had to remove the covers which was fairly difficult. They are definitely made of large foam pieces and I will hopefully be able to replace the chaise lounge piece since mine is now sullied by a chihuahua. I
