Let me first say this PSU is not 1200 watts and despite it claiming to be 1200 watts, I knew it wasn't. This PSU is actually capable of 40 amps continuous at 8.5 volts to 14.5 volts. You can set the voltage variably between 8.5 - 13.5. But if you go past 13.5, it jumps to 14.5. So if we do the math, 14.5 volts X 40 amps, we get 580 watts. Now that's a continuous power rating. The 60 amp dynamic seems to be accurate. I used an analog amp meter and measured the current spike during a drum beat and it was right at 60 amps. So let's do the math once again. 60 amps X 14.5 volts = 870 watts peak. It appears to be able to handle the peak current of 60 amps for about a 1/4 second with a rapid fall off to 40 amps.I have a Kenwood KAC-7005PS being powered by this Taramps PSU and it seems to power it fine. I am only using the sub channel on the amp which is rated for 500 watts RMS @ 2 ohms(my sub dual coil 4 ohm in parallel). I am seeing peak power draws from the wall in the 750-800 watt range with sustained draws at 600-610 on a steady bass tone. The PSU consumes about 20 watts at idle.Pros:Cheap and easy to setup. It works fine for a small car amplifier to run in the house.SmallCons:Way overrated. Nowhere near 1200 watts.Doesn't come with a power cord so you will need to supply one.Terminals are kinda small good for 12-18 awg 10 awg might fit. 8 awg not even close.Noisy cooling fan but the fan only comes on with sustained high load.Slight 60 hz ripple: The ripple isn't that noticeable. In fact I didn't see it until I turned the gain on the amp up to max. When the gain was turned down to 1/2, the ripple was not noticeable at all. I connected a 1 farad cap to it and the ripple went away completely. Conclusion:If you only need about 550 watts or less, then this Taramps PSU is a viable option. But if you need to power a larger amp, get one of Taramps more modern PSUs. This PSU will be used until I need more power and then I will upgrade to one of their Procharger PSUs. Currently this is powering my LFE channel on my computers Dolby Atmos setup and for that, it works fine.

Home car audio MUST HAVE!!!
I'm not sure what lead the dbag before me to expect 1200 watts out of this unit. Use common sense. It's what it says it is. It will power a good amp pushing up to 500 RMS on a Sub or a good pair of 6x9s alone. Clean power. Why would Taramps make false claims? Nonsense. Smh. The purpose of this devise is to hook it up to two 18ah batteries 600w each and then route the power to your amp. The device jumps to 14.1 when you increase the output because at 14.1 it will act as a charger while powering the batteries providing 1200w to your amp while also dynamically providing up to 60a. Surpassing the specs provided by taramps. This is how your are supposed to use the device. It's for your garage or room setup without breaking bank on PSU. Hence why it comes with no cord or voltage display. You can get those for 10 bucks both. Get 16 gauge 15a power cable so you won't get that 60hz hiss like that last guy did because he probably used a cheap 12a cord. So don't be a DB like that last guy and buy you one to make your windows raddle at home on the cheap while also charging at the same time. You can't beat that. Trust me. Look up any other device that can charge/power at same time for less than 100 bucks. You will not find it.
