Racing Colours: Motor Racing Compositions 1908-2009

Racing Colours: an extraordinarily beautiful, quirky book combining the author’s unique artistic skill and eye for the detail with a passion for motor sport. The graphics, based on details of racing car liveries, are combined with thoughts and quotations from a range of those personalities most closely involved in the sport. The end result is a unique perspective of the sport– a beautiful, thoughtful book, difficult to categorise but which will be savoured far beyond the ranks of motor sport enthusiasts and lovers of automotive art.

Ok I was expecting a bigger sized book due to the illustrations that were described. Not a big deal now that I have received the book and read every page. The illustrations are absolutely brilliant and it's a great testament to the author Simon Owen who sadly passed away. The quotes are also an integral part of the book and really gets into the heads of racing drivers of yesteryear and more recently. A great read and very poignant. Definitely a book that I'll be picking up again and again. From one motor racing fan to another a must buy !

A quirky, totally original celebration of motor sport. A kind of visual Haiku of the motor racing world with everything distilled into carefully selected and apt quotes married perfectly with an accompanying image of a part of a racing car. Sounds strange and unpromising until you open the small book and start reading and looking.Simon has gone seriously off piste but it works beautifully. The images are lovingly designed, with shapes and form refined and simplified into a harmonious pattern, every one distinctive. The book is closer to poetry than mere illustration with vivid quotes and pictures, beautiful small fragments, suggestive of a wider reality. The book has a simplicity and serenity which surprises, indeed is almost shocking, in contrast with the subject matter.A real gem.

Great artist, original concept and wonderfully selected subjects, nicely presented. As good a swansong as we could hope for. Lovely.

Simon Owen’s unique and deeply crafted pictures and text are a great buy. Please could we have a larger format version in time

An excellent book, recommended to any petrol head with a passing interest in racing car liveries; Simon's paintings capture each livery perfectly. Outstanding, and a fitting tribute to its author.

Nice Compact Picture Book

Tiny little book with images even smaller inside the pages (mere 10x6 cm), If like me you enjoy pictures in big format forget it here because renders are really small. I enjoyed more the sample pages fom internet seen in the computer screen rather than directly from the book, and that's a pitty.

Very nice book, great illustrations. Only wish the format was BIG.

A treat for anyone who appreciates the look of cars that raced for sport, not for global branding.

Libro piccolo e foto minuscole, mi aspettavo di trovare la livrea completa delle automobili invece ci sono solo dei disegni microscopici....costa poco, vale poco...

The concept of the book is really cool but it would have been awesome to be real pictures instead of computer design. Some of the pictures just look too much unreal to my point of view.

Was interesting but I guess it wasn't what I expected.
