The Seventh Plague: Sigma Force Novels, Book 12

Slam-down-bang tale of adventure, thrills and mystery!!
The Seventh Plague has moved up to one my all time favorite novels! This one.. is one that I can already tell I'll read and re-read many times. One of James Rollins best stories ever! I love how he includes so many historical figures into the plot! Especially Nikola Tesla and Mark Twain. YES!! In real life they really were friends. And, they really did spend time together in Tesla's lab. What an adventure! Toss in the Sigma team and an ancient mystery and you have one heck of a ride! From a mysterious underground tomb in Egypt to a DARPA funded array near the Arctic. One very wealthy business man who seeks to build Tesla's free energy device and also plans on "solving" global warming once and for all. Add to that killer microbe.. no cure.. an assassin.. all of your favorite Sigma members.. and you can forget about getting any sleep! Rollins has outdone himself! The Seventh Plague just carries the reader along, with no let up of twists, turns and excitement!Readers will be talking about this book for a long time. It is truly a masterpiece! The ending is very chilling.. as it holds so many truths. May we learn the lesson BEFORE anyone decides they know better than everyone else the "cure" for any crisis. Real or not. What are you waiting for?? BUY THIS BOOK!!! It's destined to be on the top selling list all year and beyond!

Great series, a bit long
This is a fascinating series. It's fun and intelligent. I love the search the author puts into this novel and his others. It's full of action, but not mindless. Using historical information and merge it with science and technology. That makes it brilliant. I also love the characters and how they get developed over the series. The only negative thing I can say is the books are a bit long. I have read lengthy novels, but I think some elements could be left out... even though they are interesting.

Awesome stuff inside
Start this series at Sandstorm. You can thank me later. Of course it won't take you long to get there.

High expectation, lacklustre performance.
I pre-ordered this book the moment I knew it was coming out. It arrived just prior to Christmas so it was my present to myself and I eagerly awaited having the time to sit down to devour it. I am a huge fan of Rollins' work and I have all of his Sigma books. I must admit though to being disappointed with this book. I found the plot to be a little too full of perhaps unnecessary detail. The pacing was slow compared to his earlier work, I was half way through when I realised nothing much had happened, by this time in earlier books there had been tons of chases, gun battles and near death experiences. I really found it hard to get through this book compared to his other Sigma books and like another reviewer mentioned, if it hadn't been a James Rollins book I wouldn't have bothered. This doesn't mean that it didn't have its good points because it did. There was the usual Rollins trick of involving an animal and in this one he didn't disappoint, the epilogue was particularly satisfying in this regard. There was some nice touches with the characters but considering this was the 13th book in the series I would expect to learn a little more about them. Like I said earlier I had high expectations of this book but unfortunately I felt let down by the lacklustre performance of a master story teller.

Lots of action and made me think!
Sigma is at it again! The gang is all here! A wonderful character from the first novel, Sandstorm, joins them. A major character is dealing with a serious situation at home in addition to the mission that threatens more than just the people that join him along the way. Another wild ride and an eerie bit near the end that involves the character from Sandstorm. The family situation is so well done; it feels so real. The author also dealt with Climate Change without insulting either side, too. My favorite part is actually the section where he tells what is real and what isn't. He is a wonderful researcher and I can trust him to explain things in that section. Really fascinating stuff in there. I love this writer's books - I'm so glad he shows no signs of quitting writing!!

Not the ending I expected from James
Overall enjoyed the book and recommend it. The ending caught me off guard. Not in the sense of a surprise twist. In the sense that it just ended. It left me feeling like it was time for a sabbatical so let's wrap this up.

A writes story to hook me
I am a person who reads mostly documentaries and my library is empty of novels. However, I thought to give a try when I heard James Rollins in Coast to coast AM. I must say his The 6 Extinction is really hooked me. I can't put it down. When I finish this novel t will buy the rest Rollins masterpieces.

A lire
J'ai toute la série. C'est super et mieux en anglais. Les personnages sont captivants et l'histoire est très bien rodé.

half way in, very positive
I'm only half way through but very comfortable to write a positive review. I'm fairly new to fiction, having jumped from classics to Stephen King I thought I'd try this. It's science-y and thriller in one! I love itEdit: finished the book, very good! Really enjoyed it. Different in a good way. Only downside was shoot our chapters, gets a little boring reading an entire chapter on shoot outs when realistically nobody's going to die.

Another smart and exciting thriller by James Rollins!
James Rollins delivered again a great and smart thriller. His ideas are exciting and thought provoking, but supported bythe author's vast research. The story line or rather intertwining lines are keeping a reader in suspense making putting the book down very difficult. The book is a great read also because of the familiar characters from the Sigma team and a few new ones, as interesting.I enjoyed reading the book immensely, and learned a thing or more in a process. Time well spent!!
