An ice fishing rod is a perfect interactive toy for cats. It is a shorter version of a regular pole and holds up better than those sold at pet stores (which would snarl in the spool after a few uses). I do use the attachment device and soft lures that came with the ones from the pet stores. We gave the hooks away that came with the ice pole since we do not fish for real fish. I must comment that even though this is so much better than all those purchased from the pet stores this one still isn't perfect in that it stops winding in, periodically, and I have to manually pull out the line from the front from time to time in order to get it to start winding in again. Still - we like this so much better than having a pole that after a few uses would snarl in the spool and become useless. This one doesn't snarl!We will continue to use this one until it breaks (if it does!)but will try another type of ice pole to see if another type might not have that annoying stop winding defect. To be fair... we never returned the product or mentioned this problem to the seller because our cats are very happy and it does work so it could be just a solo defect for our pole only... I don't know.

This was purchased for a gift but my brother says he loves it. It is not easy to find a rod and real combo for ice fishing.

This small rod and reel combo is ideal for getting into tight places to fish. this is very small but is very strong.
