Chipirones en su Tinta - Squid in Ink Sauce by Ramón Peña

Pricey, but so good I keep ordering. Great on their own and stand up well to sautéing as well. Did a beer batter and they came out crunchy and perfect for dipping into a mild harissa sauce.

Wow at the price I was hesitant but I bit the bullet and purchased it. So after it arrived, I tasted it and I was super impressed. The squidds are 2/3 of size of finger. Pic of the whole can is after I ate one. Inside each squid is its own tentacles. Each squid is tender unlike the large cut tentacles in the usual squid cans. Great as a occasional holiday treat at 15 a can.

It must be an acquired taste. Because I have read that other people like them. In all actuality, they made me kind of nauseous. That doesn't mean that they're bad.

First time for ink sauce. Definitely not the last!These squid are a perfect size and would be delicious on their own. The ink sauce takes them over the top!I'll be back!!

It tastes great and it looks nice (for tinned squid).

I usually have at least 5 boxes in my pantry before I buy more just out of fear of running out. I eat them right out of the tin and sometimes with a cracker but I can see incorporating this into an appetizer or a pasta dish. I haven't tried other brands but according to my fiancé, this is the best squid (in a tin) that he's had. It's really hard to describe the flavor but it's rather unique - you just have to try it for yourself.
