Fascinating feminist history
Great graphics with the back stories I am ashamed I didn't know. A must to understanding the womens' movement roots

Women unite!
This 2016 book consists of reproductions of posters made by See Red a London-based women's liberation collective who produced and sold screenprinted feminist posters. The book is prefaced with an account of the collective's history, including photographs, and most of the posters are accompanied by commentary. The collective was just that, with every member contributing to the posters. The authors describe the often heated discussions and stresses of being part of the collective as well as the passion and commitment that kept them going. The posters are brilliant and most of them are still depressingly relevant today: women are still paid less than men, are harassed on the street and in the workplace, experience domestic violence, and the list goes on. 'Fight the Cuts' is still a rallying cry. Alongside the anger, there is humour and solidarity (although the authors do acknowledge the divisions that became more pronounced as the eighties went on). My favourite poster proclaims 'Underneath every woman's 'curve' lies a muscle!' and using veteran lesbian activist Jackie Forster as a model lists all the ways in which one's body can do damage to a potential attacker. This book will make you angry but I also hope it will prove an inspiration, contributing to the feminist momentum that seems to be growing at the moment, hopefully turning a small tear in the patriarchy into an irreparable rent.

Bad shipment
The book itself is beautiful, full of posters images and text to contextualize them. The only reason I'm giving it 3 stars is because the spine of the book got here at this state.
