Lightweight & Well Made
I LOVE these pants! I purchased them for a trip to SoCal & Hawaii with lots of hiking. Ordered my regular size and these fit better and more comfortably than I could have hoped for. They fit like a normal pair of flat front, straight fit pants, not too baggy. And the very subtle stretch feature is only noticeable when active, which is what you want. I'm 6'4, when I removed the bottom legs, the shorts hit just above the knee.I also ordered the non-stretch version of these pants for comparison. Columbia Silver Ridge Convertible Pant, 36x34, Grill Besides the obvious stretch feature, here is how thy differ:1) The stretch pants have jeans style front pockets vs the chino type pockets2) The stretch pants do not have a flap on the back pockets3) The stretch pants have a slightly smoother surface vs the very subtle rip-stop grid pattern on the others. This would only be noticed during close inspection but I mention it anyway.4) The stretch pants do not include a belt.In the end, I kept the stretch pants because the extra flex will be appreciated when hiking.

Built for men, worn also by women
To clarify, I'm a 6' tall woman. Columbia's women's trousers don't fit me, and their women's convertible trousers are very uncomfortable (seriously, why would you design the zipper to be so tight around thighs that I can't comfortably stand in them, much less sit?). These men's convertible trousers are built with a little extra room in the thighs, and I can comfortably order a length to fit _me_ instead of some idealized female model. I bought 2 pairs and wore them in Tanzania for 3 weeks. I put them through light hiking, swimming, and a fair bit of walking. They were light, comfortable, didn't easily show the dirt/dust my shirts showed, and the zipped legs were easy to take off/put back on. They were also easily washed by hand in buckets along the way, and dirt came out of them without much fuss.Given how long I've read grumbles about how badly their women's trousers fit anyone other than very skinny women with zero muscle or fat bulk, maybe someday Columbia can better-design their women's offerings (and build in some functional pockets that hold more than a credit card!). Until then, my friends and I will continue to purchase from the men's rack.

Better than the non-strech Silver Ridge Convertibles, but their fit still sucks
Same impression as the regular silver ridge convertible pants, their only saving grace is by virtue of the stretch weave, you don't feel as restricted when taking steps.. but they're still tapered way too tight around the thigh area..Why would you take pants meant for hiking, or at least being outdoors, and design them with a tapered thigh section so narrow they pull against people's thighs with every step? Specifically, think of going up stairs (or climbing a hilly incline) when you have to lift your feet higher in order to ascend vertically.. these are the steps when the fabric of any pant will rub and catch most on your moist, sweaty legs.. in the context of a day-long hiking, it makes each step that much more tiring when you have to fight against your pants; in the context of these pants that problem is even worse as they get so thigh-narrow they maximize that pull... and I have normal-dude thighs.. I haven't seen leg day in the gym for years...These pants have equally as small pockets as the regular silver ridge pants as well.. why? Why make pants meant to be outside and make the front pockets useless?

Not stretch at all.
Nice pants. Not stretch at all. In my pic you can see what stretch is in the pants I have. Not a single one of the 5 pair I ordered, ALL labeled “stretch” has the slightest stretch to them. Btw the label online AND the label on the clothes both read “stretch” so I assume it’s a factory labeling failure. Also yes I checked to insure the “stretch” characteristic isn’t just hidden in some special material. The description says clearly “partial elastic waste” which does not exist in any way. There is no stretch of any kind. I’m not returning them since I’m giving up on finding stretch Columbia pants. They’re nowhere. That’s my life. Find something I like ... boom. Discontinued.

Good, solid convertible pants suitable for warm weather hiking
Good, solid convertible pants suitable for warm weather hiking, fishing, etc. They are thin and lightweight. Don't expect a heavy duty set of pants. They do have a gusseted crotch even though that feature is not listed. They are stretchy, but not as stretchy as the Royce Peak pants. They run a bit small in the waist. I ordered one size larger there, but they are pretty true to size on the length. The lower sections of the pants legs zip off easily and will slide over a set of boots, and they are easy to zip back on. The zippered pocket on the left leg is the only really deep, secure pocket of them all. I'm happy with the pants especially since I got them for less than half price on here, with free shipping.

Front Pocket depths vary with size.
I ordered the Grill color looks dark green outdoorsy color.Anyways I first ordered a size 34x30 the front pockets were shallow, but the length too long and waist barely fit snug, no breathing room or I’m fatter than I would like to admit. I just added a stretchy belt and can loosen the button. Etc. plus I hemmed up approx two inches. The side lower leg pocket actually fit the cell phone better even when sitting down. Or driving. So I ordered the 34x28 and the length is better, and a better surprise was that the front pockets were deeper, more my liking for cell phones etc.So not sure why the differences in front pocket depth?Great pair of pants for outdoor sunny weather, or rain. Dries quickly after a shower from body heat alone.Unzipping legs off makes it easier to go with short hotter weather and easy to put tan lotion on.

Too small and does not match the product pictures
I bought this in my usual 34x34 size and it was way too tight. Unlike the Columbia shorts that fit me perfectly in a 34" waist. The material is also a lot more shinny and nylon looking than in the images. It looks like you're wearing a sleeping bag. There was no stretch that I could detect but instead I had the zippers from the convertible part dig into my legs when bending down.If you're interested, get it at least one size bigger but keep in mind that it might be cut too tight for people with strong/muscular legs.

Light material, fits well
The nylon is so light it feels like it'll rip but I've been wearing them for a few months now and the durability is fine. They are not baggy like most zipoffs that fit like cargo pants. These fit like regular jeans

Lightweight, perfect for summer, shows sweat
Very light. Fit was perfect. Great for hot weather with one minor problem. If it is particularly hot these WILL show sweat big time. If it's hot out and you are exerting yourself be prepared for sweat stains around the crotch and butt.Wish they were slightly slimmer at the bottom of the pant but excellent choice for a light summer backpacking pant. Very quick dry.
