This P&P Chef Cast Iron Dutch Oven is a well-made heavy-duty Dutch oven for a variety of great cooking for bread and stew and braising.I was very much impressed with this Dutch oven at the opening of the box for its thick and heavy and clever design of 2-in 1, cover and pot combo. The cover can be used as a standalone skillet. This pot and lid skillet can be used on any type of heating surface like gas, electric, grill and even on fire pit.Cast-iron pot provides excellent heat transfer and retention and locking in moisture; therefore, bread doesn't dry out quickly during baking, resulting in a crispy outside and tender inside texture.I think it is not primed as the product description says, which I am not sure, though (maybe it’s lightly primed). I washed with warm water and dried, then put it on the cooktop for a while, then primed with vegetable oil before my first use as the enclosed maintenance instruction says for longer life.While it was being heated on the cooktop for drying after wash, it smelled strong like chemical, paint and iron, but it disappeared after a while. Also note that initially I used paper towel to dry and prime, it left paper lint on the surface because of rough texture on the surface; I recommend to use lint-free towel.I had to test drive this Dutch oven with baking my favorite Artisan bread before I upload my review. My bread as you see in the photo, it came out great as good as from my trusty old Le Creuset Dutch oven, soft inside and crunch and crispy crust. No traces of foreign material or smell. Cast iron is my favorite thing to cook in. I saw this and was intrigued. First, I love the space saving lid that is a second pan. Second, both pans are versatile and able to go from the stove to the oven. Third, when taken care of, these are pieces that will last for decades. Just be sure to keep it seasoned. I do wish it would come with something that would show beginners how to care for the pan. No documentation came with this one.

Saw this up and couldn't refuse it, so glad i got it to because this thing feels nice. It works on my induction cook top to so even if i didnt use it to specifically make shepherds pies and breads i could defiantly sear a steak on this thing easy. it deosnt feel cheap at all, everything feels like itll last. if you NEED cast iron, this is a good buy.

These are great pots!! I love how you can use the smaller one as a pot itself, a duch oven, or a lid for the other one. I also love how you can use them inside and outside. I love how durable that they are.

Everyone that has a working kitchen should (in my humble opinion) have a cast iron Dutch oven, and this P&P Dutchy is a great one to have, especially if starting out as it’s a good value. It’s nice and heavy so you’ll get a nice and even cook. Being cast iron, you can use it in so many ways from searing, sautéing, roasting, soup, baking. It’s perfect to have in a camper as the lid functions as a pan, so you don’t have to invest in other cookware. I love to use my cast iron Dutch oven for homemade sourdough bread. The cast iron holds the high temp heat. The lid fits tightly but comfortably on the pot which helps to create the perfect amount of steam for a crispy golden crust. Cleanup is easy, especially if seasoned correctly. No harsh soaps or hard scrubbing necessary. Will definitely last a lifetime or two!

I love that it is so well finished, no rough spots or inconsistencies. Very smooth and it's already seasoned!! Yay! Shiny cast iron pots are as bad as driving around with dealer plates on your new car!I love the design of the lid, making it an extra pot! No long handles and no moving parts. They are heavy, but I love them!

I was very pleased when I got this Dutch oven in. One of the very first things I noticed was that the lid can be used also as a skillet! That made it even better. It is a nice heavy weight and overall seems to be very well made. I can't wait to take it camping with me this spring.

I love the size of this and the way that the lid itself is its own cooking vessel. Well finished and well made. Heavy like cast iron should be. I can confirm that it works on an induction stove. Happy to have this in the collection!
