Although not the first actor to don the scrubs of Max Brand's Dr. Kildare, Lew Ayres soon became synonymous with the young intern, playing the unconventional doctor in nine films for MGM from 1938 until 1942. Lionel Barrymore starred opposite as the curmudgeonly mentor Dr. Gillespie while lovely Laraine Day played love interest nurse Mary Lamont.

Excellent Old Time Movie Series
If you liked the old doctor series, these are the films that gave the genre it's start. Most enjoyable.

Dr. Kildare Movie Collection!
I saw these old movies as a kid. Lew Ayres, Lionel Barrymore, need I say more? I fell in love with them then, and I was so glad to finally find the whole collection on DVD. The quality is a 8.5 - 9.0, and the sound is really good too. I never saw the 1960 Dr. Kildare. I was great too. Now, I'm waiting to see them on Blu-ray. Great buy, if you love these movies as much as I, don't miss out, buy now!

I wish I knew if the facts were correct
They say an intern got $20.00 a month at a major hospital in NY. I don't know if that was correct. I don't care I liked the series.

The way movies should be made
I bought this movie because I'm a fan of Laraine Day ... The story line in the series was above normal for that era. Of course I thought Laraine Day stole the series .... however it was extremely well cast and the acting was outstanding

The picture quality and sound are very good and I highly recommend this collection.
