K&F Concept 55mm Variable ND Lens Filter ND3-ND1000 (1.5-10 Stops) Putter Adjustable HD Neutral Density Filter with 28 Multi-Layer Coatings for Camera Lens (Nano-X Series)

Very wide range variable polarizer. I end up using this filter to get a few eclipse pictures, when the camera display only showed black with the high neutral density filter I bought specifically for the eclipse.

I don't have much experience with Variable ND filters as they used to be such garbage, but it seems like the color cast issues are mostly mitigated now. I use this for video shooting and the little slide tab is a lifesaver to both gauge how far it has moved and to move it seamlessly in a shot. I have no complaints.

I have Urth 77mm 64-1000 ND and while I am happy with its performance, it cannot go below 64, which is quite dark. I wanted a variable ND which start from a lower number and goes all the way up to 1000, so that I can shoot full open aperture in RF 50mm F1.2 all day and evening without taking off the filter. This K&N filter fits my bill. It is perfect optically as there is no color shift, vignette or dreaded X pattern at the darker end. However it lacks two physical design limitations: 1) The filter does not stops at the lowest and highest ND limits like the Urth can. I need to take the camera off from my eye to set the filter darkness, a minor hassle 2) The small tab on the filter rim prevents fitting any lens hood after the filter is put on.Overall, this is a great ND filter for any photographer or filmmaker who wants to shoot full open aperture or slow shutter speed photo. I am very happy for this purchase, it will not collect dust like so many other camera accessories I have purchased in past.

Bought two of these and taped them together to take pictures of the Annular eclipse last October. I got some pretty good photos!

I was pleased to see the packaging it came in, the build is solid and feels good to the touch. My issue was with strange patterns of shade in mine. I tried a variety of different things but could not get it to work properly. I was so excited to use this product on a trip I have been planning for some time, ended up not using it for the rest of the trip as it was ruining all my photos.

I’ve had plenty of other VND filters before, and I’ve had one problem that happens across all of them: strong vignette and colour cast at the higher ends of the ND setting, which mess up my footages quite a lot when shooting outdoors in bright sunny conditions.This one is the first one that doesn’t have that issue (or at least I haven’t encountered it yet) without me needing to spend a hundreds of dollars for a PolarPro or Freewell. It doesn’t affect my colours as much but still allows me to stop down a lot.2 things I found that’s a bit annoying with this VND though:1) my biggest gripe with it is it doesn’t have hard stops. I’m run and gun situations, it’s kinda annoying to have to actually look at the filter rings and make sure you’re not over the limits on either end. Idk how hard or expensive it is to implement hard stops but would definitely love to see it in future versions.2) this filter is advertised as ND3 - ND1000 (1.5 - 10 stops), but it seems like when set to the max (10 stops) my exposure level is higher when compared to 9 stops on another K&F Concept VND I have (the 9 stop looks to be darker than the 10 stop). Not a huge issue but just a small thing I find annoying.Otherwise, it’s a great filter. It doesn’t ruin my footage by having strong colour cast or vignettes in the corners which is what’s important to me.

I only us it for video, and I find it helps me get the right exposure. Good

Vielleicht habe ich einfach ein besseres Modell erwischt oder aber die Erwartungen manch anderer Rezensenten bezüglich der Auswirkungen eines komplett abgedunkelten ND3-1000 sind einfach zu hoch. Natürlich sieht man optische Einflüsse, wenn man den ND-Filter auf ND1000 stellt. Nicht ohne Grund gibt es wesentlich hochpreisigere ND-Filter, die dann aber gerade mal den Bereich ND2-ND32 abdecken. Die eierlegende Wollmilchsau sucht jeder von uns, gibt es aber de facto nicht.Die Nano X-Serie gefällt mir super gut. Ich besitze bereits mehrere Filter der Serie und bin absolut zufrieden. Zu dem aufgerufenen Preis kann man einfach nicht meckern und ich persönlich finde die Auswirkungen bei ND1000 auch tragbar. Wenn ich besonders hochqualitative Fotos aufnehmen möchte, beispielsweise mit Langzeitbelichtung, dann verwende ich sowieso einen festen ND1000 Filter. Bin ich jedoch unterwegs und möchte auf verschiedene Situationen vorbereitet sein, nehme ich den ND3-ND1000 mit.Der Filter ist super verarbeitet, das merkt man schon an der Haptik, wenn man diesen in die Hand nimmt. Diese Verarbeitung bin ich von K&F Concept auch gewöhnt, denn auch mein Stativ, meine Objektivadapter und meine anderen Filter sind entsprechend gut verarbeitet. Von meiner Seite aus kann ich eine klare Kaufempfehlung aussprechen, wenn ihr mit den richtigen Erwartungen an solch einen Filter unterwegs seid.

Es mag anderen nicht so gehen, aber ich schwitze immer Schweiß und Blut, wenn ich mitten im Gelände die Schraubfilter wechsle, peinlichst bedacht, nicht mit den Fingern darauf herumzupatschen. Ab sofort wird der Kamerakoffer etwas leichter und es bleibt bei einem einzigen Filter. Das gefällt mir schon sehr gut.Aber der Filter wurde auch bereits in einer wertigen Box geliefert, in der sich eine edle Tasche als Aufbewahrung für den Filter befindet. Ich vermute, jeder Hobbyfotograf freut sich sehr über so ein edles Geschenk. Aber vor dem Kauf muss man den Durchmesser des eingesetzten Objektivgewindes kennen. In meinem Fall habe ich den Filter für mein normales Objektiv bestellt, dass eine 58er Gewindegröße benötigt. Auf den beiden anderen Objektiven kämen dann 63er Filter zum Einsatz.Im Test war ich begeistert, wie einfach die Einstellung war und die Qualität der Leistung und Verarbeitung ist vorbildlich. Einzig, es wäre schön, wenn die Einstellung eine Min- Max- Begrenzung hätte. So musste ich immer einmal kurz ein Auge auf den Hebel richten, ob er sich auch im einstellbaren Bereich befindet.Aber dies ist Jammern auf sehr hohem Niveau. Ich freue mich jedenfalls über diesen tollen Filter und dass der ewige Wechsel endlich ein Ende hat.➡️ Fazit:Sehr gut verarbeiteter, variabel einstellbarer ND Filter (Blende 1.5 -10). Wollte diesen Filter mit nd inkl. Pol Filter benutzen. Wie bei meinen vorherigen Kamerasetup . Den blackmistfilter praktisch als letztes drauf montieren. Dieser passt leider weder auf einer der 2 Filter oder auf die Kamera. Adapter-Gewinde dreht durch. Deshalb muss ich ihn zurückschicken
