Overall this is a nice pontoon accessory,
The anchor winch kit works excellent. I have the item that lifts up to 40 lbs max. I’m using a 20 LB mushroom.Amazon shipped promptly, arrived up damaged.I read in the past reviews that the wrong instructions were sent, Well , LOL I received instructions for a trolling motor and a hardware kit that was useless. Luckily I had enough hardware in my shop to install that day without driving to purchase more bolts and nuts. The manufacturer needs to get their act together and correct this issue.Don’t plan on installing this unit on the bow with your battery by the stern. The battery cable is rather short.I choose to install mine at the stern and just 6 “ away from the battery. I cut off the excess cable not needed and the disconnect plug. Less cable the better the and flow to the motor. I have a 24 ft. Pontoon and the winch pulls the boat backwards like it was a feather.I’ll give this a reluctant 5 stars because of the hardware issue and instructions

Outstanding
One of the best things that I've added to my tritoon so far along with the 40lb anchor. Damn convenient and so much cleaner than pulling the muddy anchor up hand over hand. be sure to think carefully about where you add the switch because it will bumped. After trial and error ended up mounting mine upside down on the front fence.

2 Important Considerations
First: Know you will need LOTS of room to slide unit onto base once installed. It must be slid on from inboard end, so unless you have lots of room on pontoon deck, good luck! Second: read and re-read ALL instructions before beginning. There are two assembly manuals that seem to contradict themselves. For example: One tells you to drill two 11/32" holes into the top half of the sliding-on mount to have 6 holes total, when in fact the holes are already there; one tells you to attach devise to the 2 holes at the very back of the plate, another shows that it should be mounted farther forward; one says the quick release unit is not sold separately while the other says it is available from any dealer. Figure on a good hour to figure it all out and get the quick release plate and devise connected to each other before even mounting it to the boat. And lastly: what's with the ridiculously short power cord. Plan on having plenty of 10 g wiring on hand to make an extension.

Is an absolutely great product
I have owned numerous boats and always add 1 of these to the front. It is awesome and lifts a 30 pound anchor no problem

Save your money--doesn't work more than it does
The unit was easy to install on my 24' pontoon, but the stock anchor line tangles easily and doesn't spool correctly when reeling in. Would not function after first use this season, stuck when reeled in completely, won't reel out. It got reversed many times due to end of line stop not functioning correctly. The remote and main switch were never used at the same time. Circuit breaker was junk from start. When the unit worked(with my 25# mushroom/grappel hook anchor) it was great, just didn't work often. It seems both the MinnKota and Trac winches for pontoon boats have about a 50% early failure rate and don't last over 2 years(when warranty expires) even with light use. Guess I'll just have to float or bring someone with me to haul in my old Danforth. Will now use the winch as a spare anchor.

Difficult installation, doesn't seem like it will hold up
I installed this on a 24 ft Premier Pontoon at the back end. First, the screws provided are not long enough to go all the way through my decking and the sheeting underneath. I had to purchase my own screws. Second, the installation instructions are not very clear at all. There is an extra screw you have to remove to get the lid off. Third, the anchor that I purchased to go with it gets stuck in it if you pull it all the way up. Fourth, the first time out, the fuse tripped on the unit. Not sure why but I was able to figure it out very quickly. Fifth, the way the housing is screwed in on the sides makes it extremely difficult to reinstall the housing and it's just little pieces of plastic which I feel certain are not going to hold up. All in all, it just appears flimsy. I don't see this last a year. Time will tell.

Great product
I bought this product via Amazon after much research. I am very happy with the purchase. I placed it on my 24' pontoon. The price from Amazon was the best. It was very east to install. I have used 3 different anchors with it. I have been using it for several months now with no real issues. The only problem that I ever had was an operator error where someone hit the down button on the remote while moving across the water pretty fast. I highly recommend the product. I do however recommend that you mount the remote switch in such a manner that it cannot be easily hit while the boat is moving. Either that or lock the anchor in place when moving at a fast speed.
