If you aren't a 'Beardie' type then you will know all about the search for The Perfect Shave. Sooner or later you'll be tempted by the romance of the Cut-throat razor. Could it be the closest shave possible? Surely closer than any electric shaver. None of the plastic waste that goes with disposable wet razors, and the satisfaction that comes from mastering an old skill.When I saw these it felt like the time to try had finally come.The pack contains a pair of straight razors, one in black the other in stainless steel finish. These are NOT Ye olde-fashioned straight blade which needs stropping to sharpen. Instead, the razor holds replaceable blades, but none are included. Order them at the same time as your razor, as they are not easily found in shops. Search Amazon for 'Derby Blades'.When your razors arrive the packaging cheerfully announces that 'this is how REAL men shave', and helpfully warns that your razors can cause 'serious injury'. I wasn't too surprised, having already seen 'Reservoir Dogs' . Shaving with these takes time and preparation, so watch a couple of YouTube guides and jump in. You should be prepared to get cut though. This is a skill to be learned and you probably want to order a styptic pencil along with your blades. I manged three nicks on my first shave. None were Sweeney Todd calibre and I still have both ears, but be prepared.Obviously that's not just down to these particular razors, it just goes with the territory. I think they might be more controllable if they were a touch heavier, these are pretty light. However, I haven't tried any other straight razor to compare these too. I can't imagine settling on these for everyday use, as straight razor shaving can't be rushed. Some users will probably only want them to clean up the edges of their beards.In short:Well finished, good price. Blades cost pennies.Remember to order blades, leather pouch a bit flimsy.

In the box you get one Matt chrome/silver and one black razor holder.Unfortunately neither are great quality. The box arrived torn and bent with a hole where one of the the handles had pushed through. The silver one is severely scratched in places and the blade guard/holder was so tight it’s very difficult to open to allow a blade to be inserted and then night in impossible to close one the blade is in situ. The black handle is of a better quality but the blade holder is so loose it flops open of its own accord.They don’t come with blades -which is advertised - but also don’t state what blades you need for them. Fortunately standard sized blades will fit. It would be better if they came with at least one set of blades in a box to be sure of what you need to order.You do get a pleather pouch to put the blades in which is a nice touch.

Comes with 2 razors, one silver and another matte black in a carrying pouch. Does not come with blades which need to be bought separately but these can be found quite cheaply.Lightweight and good for touching up edges of your beard.For the price, this is quite economical although not sure when you would need 2 razors but good value nonetheless.
