Why do I have the feeling I read this book before?
A PF Ford book of the Slater and Norman Mysteries. And then it goes to Norman, the heavy set one, having that heart attack and his apartment is set on fire in an attempt to murder him. I won't go into any more detail because I don't want to ruin what's coming up for anyone if that is what is in fact happening here somehow. Is this for real or am I losing my mind?

Not her best
This is the first in a new series featuring Detective Hadley Sharpe. It's a decent, suspenseful book, but nothing special. I've read quite a few books by the author that are much better. Hadley is ok, his sidekick quite naive and the main female character, Chloe, devious. All in al, an ok read.Thank you NetGalley and Joffe Books for the eARC.

Excellent police procedural!
When Chloe Todd discovers her three month old baby is missing from her carriage, she runs screaming from the house and her neighbor calls the police. Her husband Simon, a controlling bully, says there is no baby, the baby had died and Chloe, shocked by the death was on medication. Case closed, perhaps? Then a body is found in a cellar, lying there since he was killed a year earlier. A day later, the body of a homeless man was found in that same cellar. How are these three cases related?DS Hedley Sharpe and DI Stuart Vasey realize that these crimes may be linked to a major diamond theft a year earlier. After another killing, Sharpe is sure that he knows who the murderer(s) are but can’t yet prove it. Nothing is as it seems is this complicated criminal enterprise.Helen Durrant is a master of the police procedural. DIG TWO GRAVES is the first in a new series featuring DS Hedley Sharpe. He’s an anti-hero with a stubborn attitude, a foul mouth, and an unhealthy appetite paired with an unhealthy body. I cant wait to see what comes next! 5 stars.Thank you to NetGalley, Joffe Books and Helen H. Durrant for this ARC.

Okay
Little did Hedley Sharpe realize that the failure of Dean Rawlins to appear in court was the beginning of a case that was to involve diamonds and murders and a confusion of clues a year later. Who stole the diamonds? Where were they? What was the nature of the marriage between the beautiful yet fragile Chloe Todd and her bully of a husband? Had his suspects been framed or were they really guilty of murderDurrant weaves together these elements into a reasonably satisfying if not very surprising tale. Her main character, Chloe, seems two-dimensional, perhaps because her true nature is always in question. The book introduces Hedley Sharpe, detective superintendent, and his DI, Stuart Vasey. They are more caricatures than anything else; perhaps future books will lend them more depth.Overall, this was a passable read, but not stellar.

Vicious Detective
This book wasn't up to MS Durrant's usual standards. The main character had no redeeming qualities. His meanness wore on me. By the time it was over, he was as cruel as the dead husband. I won't be reading the next book in the series.

Story jumps all over
More consistency to the story line needed. A bit more follow through to tie things together and this could have been a good read. Usually like this authors books.

Not up to Currant standards
Boring, mundane and predictable. Both "heroes" and villains aren't likeable. This is Book 1 and hopefully there won't be a Book 2.

Pretty good read!
Somewhat predictable outcome, but entertaining. Not too long a book, so done in a reasonable time. For fans of British procedurals.

A truly gripping read, full of twists and turns and of course the final unexpected twist at the very end. A book you just cannot put down

A good read
Thought Hedley was a great character. Enjoyed the story, although I did feel his partner, Stuart's, insistence on his view of the suspect, was a bit much after a while. Still enjoyed it

Such an Enjoyable Read.
Such an enjoyable read by Helen Durrant, I loved it.The storyline had so much going on, you foget the time and keep reading to find out what is going to happen next. It didn't slow down until all was discovered right at the end.The characters were well placed, with Superintendent Hedley Sharpe, and his off sider, Stuart...or " laddie", as he calls him never seeing eye to eye, until the end..or does stuart?A Remarkable read.
