Hongdian did it again!
I have been using this pen for about a week and here is my review:Packaging & Accessories: 8/10The pen comes in an oval metal box. I have another Hongdian fountain pen and the packaging is the same. The pen came in a plastic bag for additional protection.Aesthetics & Quality (10/10)The M2 is a nice little pen. Aesthetically the lines are pleasant to the eye (I like squared lines to curvy ones) and it appears to be well put together. It comes with a clip that is very usable. It has a nice medallion with the Hongdian mark on top (it appears 3D) and Hongdian M2 stamped on the side of the cap. The concept is similar to the Kaweco Sport and other pocket pens: the cap is quite long and the pen itself quite short (see pictures): once the cap is posted the pen becomes full size. The materials used is probably alluminum well anodized. The pen comes with a converter, which is bigger than the one offered by Kaweco for the Sport and very to use. Similarly to the N11, the converter has a reinforced nipple and it can be disassembled for maintenance. The pen has an O-ring in the section to avoid accidentally unscrewing the body from the section and probably one more in the cap, as when the cap posts I can feel a nice positive engage from it: it won’t fall even if you violently shake the pen.Overall, very good quality.Nib and wiring quality: 9/10The nib looks like a number 5: I didn’t try to unscrew it, but I imagine you could. It is dark colored (ruthenium?) which matches the same color of the clip. It is very smooth with some nice feedback (not scratchy). I enjoy writing with it very much.Weight and Dimensions: 9/10The pen is pretty light as you would expect from a pocket pen. Being made of metal, it is heavier than a plastic Kaweco Sport, but definitely not that heavy and it feels pretty well in the hand. Closed it is about 4 inches long and capped it is about 5 inches: by no means a long pen but long enough to write comfortably.Cost & Value: 10/10The pen costs $19 on Amazon which is definitely not expensive and cheaper than a Kaweco Sport in metal. Considering that you get a nice pen, with a clip and a converted (the last two items are options for Kawecos and need to be purchased separately), this is a nice little package. Conclusion: (46/50 –92%)Hongdian did it again! This is another nice pen, especially if you are looking for an expensive pocket pen with substance (metal construction) and with the added bonus of a nice sized converter.

Fantastic pen!
I have an embarrassing number of fountain pens, from cheap disposables to $$$$ custom pens. This pen is worth far more than the 20 bucks I paid for it—if I didn’t know the price, I would have thought it cost a lot more. I’m a fan on mini-pens, and this one is a great combination of size/ink capacity, quality and attractiveness.Well-crafted all-round:- The cap screws and unscrews securely and quickly - The finish on the aluminum is smooth but not slippery - The clip is hinged so it slips easily onto a pocket - The nib (EF) writes like butter—no scratchiness AT ALL even on cheap paper. - Ink flow (using Noodler’s Lexington Gray in it) is smooth, but not too wet. - The cap posts easily and securely, making the pen perfectly balanced- It wrote immediately after being capped and left overnight—I’ll do more testing to see if it will go a few daysI like the slimness of the pen—I’m not a fan of the fat ones, and this one is comfortable in my hand. There are no odd ridges digging into my fingers, and it’s easy to use for long periods.I’m primarily using this for drawing, but it’s become my every-day writer. For the price, I’m not worried about taking it out of the house, and with the clip I feel a little more secure with it in the pocket of my bag.I will be buying more, and looking at other Hongdian pens!

Compact pen that writes well
This pen is to re-introduce me to fountain pen writing after several years of being lazy while using gels and ballpoints. Fountain pens require more work to load them with ink from bottles. Inks I have tried (notably Noodlers waterproof ones bought several years ago) have flowed well and the pen seals well so if it sits for a few days without use it will start up easily. The EF nib lays down a narrow line that dries quickly (helpful to us leftists), given the right ink.For someone with large hands like me, it is essential to post the pen to get enough length. I particularly like the capped length which is much shorter than posted, making this pen compact to carry. The pen has a solid feel in hand while writing, despite having a relatively light weight claimed at 12 grams. The dimensions, weight, and always-ready nature make this a good candidate for EDC and to get me back into regular FP use.

Nice pocket-sized pen, writes well
The Hongdian M2 Black Forest Mini fountain pen arrived quickly and in good shape. It's nicely made and finished, and I love that it has a converter, so I didn't have to buy one separately. I prefer bottled ink, but one can get Hongdian/Asvine cartridges for it. Standard short international cartridges won't fit. The nib has a little bit of spring to it, but I would not call it soft (one thing that attracted me). It writes quite smoothly. The F nib is pretty wet and on absorbent paper it puts down a lot of ink. Looks like an M or B nib. On good TR paper, it's truer to its F nib size. I bought extra nibs and tried out the EF nib too. It writes finer, but still pretty smoothly.

Just the write pen
I wasn't expecting much, but, man, this pen over-delivered. It's comfortable to hold and write with. It comes with a converter so you can fill it with whatever ink you want. It writes as smooth as a TWSBI or a Kaweco and the design is not unpleasant to look at. It's got good weight for its size, and it's aluminum, so it doesn't feel like holding a cheap piece of plastic. It's a very good pen for the price.

what a beautiful pen
I absolutely love this pen. I'm glad I got extra fine, it could be even finer, but I still give 5 stars. It writes like butter. Such a nicely made pen. I highly recommend it.

Buona giornata.
