Warning not for Windows 95 machines !
I bought these PS2(F) to Serial(F) adapters explicitly for my Windows 95 frame up restore, replace. retrobright, and rebuild. Both of them do not work for this application. My old Microsoft Serial mouse was no longer working right. I found a Microsoft mouse with a PS2 connection (still shrink wrapped) here on amazon. It's the same mouse as my old one, but instead of a serial connection it has a PS2 connection to the PC. After opening the new mouse box, I found a Microsoft brand PS2(F) to Serial(F)F adapter. Apparently most of these red boxed Microsoft mice came with one. I used the Windows95 machine's keyboard to install the drivers. BOTH of these adapters fail to let the PC see the mouse. So I tried the Microsoft adapter that came with the mouse and sure enough the mouse works fine. I went back to test these two adapters and they are still not working (the PC does not even read a mouse attached to it). After some research I found that the Microsoft PS2 to Serial adapter is one of the few that does actually work for an old system like this. I am using an AT Motherboard, Cyrix 6x86 CPU, and a Sounblaster 16 in one of the isa slots. I must add that I can not confirm if these 2x adapters here work at all, and the one star rating is based off my need for my specific application (For which neither adapter worked). They may be designed for some other application that I do not know of. But if your like me and need a windows 95 solution. My advice is to track down an old MS adapter or mouse that comes with one. I hope this helps others looking for a solution like I was. I'm going to add several pics of the MS mouse and adapter that it came with it.
