Some good ideas
I was disappointed that the author recommended ignoring "No soliciting" signs in office buildings. That's why I'm only giving the book 3 stars. There were some good ideas in this book that I hadn't thought of nor read elsewhere in my wanderings through the internet. And I appreciated confirmation of the return on brochure distribution which is about the same as direct mail in general. I wish I had read the book BEFORE I signed up to sell AVON. I thought I could distribute flyers on front porches in the nearby not-very-upscale-at-all village as part of my morning walk. It turns out that it is against the law. (I'm glad I didn't learn that lesson the hard way.) And to distribute flyers in the small business district to businesses costs $50 a day for a permit. The numbers so far aren't adding up FOR ME although I can distribute flyers in the township (down gravel roads and deep in the woods to homes on large lots) to my heart's content. If you have a lot of friends and acquaintances who love makeup or live in an area with far fewer restrictions on flyers or person-to-person sales, AVON might be a nice supplement to your income. I'll be surprised if I am still an independent sales representative a year from now unless a couple of the ideas in this book work for me. My one tip for potential representatives is to see if swagbucks.com still offers $15 back for becoming an AVON representative. Then join swagbucks.com and sign up for AVON through them, using whatever referral code you were given. I have no idea how long the offer will last. I used it a few months ago and it was still available last week. (2/2016)

Good tips
Especially for those in bigger areas. However, being in a more rural area a lot of the tips really won't work ie coffee shop I think we have one nearby. But some great tips that make you think out of the box.

quick read and helpful
I learned some things and some I already knew. I like the writing style and the detailed plan for success was wonderful! My only critique is it didn't really address the role of the Internet and social media. Perhaps it was written before social media exploded and became such a big part of marketing and business.

Full of great ideas
As a new Avon rep, this book has lots of great marketing ideas. I'm currently working on a raffle at my son's daycare and got lots of new customers by giving free Avon manicures at the Senior citizens center. Avon works if you work the business. This book is a great tool to have.

Unimaginative and lacks originality.
Not a lot of ideas in here that aren't shared with new reps in their first week. I expected to have brilliant new ideas. Something to set me apart from those just tossing brochures in people's driveway and hoping to get a call. It costs $15 to start An Avon business and that includes books, full size products, and a website with lots of training. No offense but the booklet (I refuse to call it an actual book) lacks creativity and usefulness. I'm surprised it was written by a former Avon Representative.

Informative for Avon Reps.
I have not tried any of the ideas yet. Some of them I had already implemented. I think this book is worth the price if only one of the ideas helps you gain customers/reps.

Torn between 2 or 3 stars.. The book reeks of mediocraty
I am very glad that I didn't pay the initial list price - otherwise I would be wanting a refund. As a Scentsy seller, I understand and realise that quite a few tips are transferrable between different direct selling markets, so whilst the product was Avon, the tips should be interchangeable.Unfortunately, I felt that the tips were thin on the ground, and a great deal of the book was spent analyzing the probability of success, rather than a book packed full of great tips. An example of this is her 'toss rate' which she repeatedly refers to within the book.Mary Christensen's books, which I have read and compare to this, is of higher quality, more tips are included, and is transferrable across any and all direct sales, and cover everything from pre-sales, to post-sales and retention. The pro's of buyng this book - if you are an Avon seller, perhaps just starting out, it can give a fairly 'fast and loose' way of gaining customers, and may inspire.. for a fraction of the price of a Mary C book.

Excellent resource
I absolutely loved this book - a quick read, straight to the point and full of great advice! As a relatively new Avon rep I found this book a treasure trove of Information - especially love the idea of pamper packs for mums - and the action plan at the back. Thanks!

Glad I Bought It!
I enjoyed reading this book. Written as if the author was speaking to me.I have already tried some of the tips but I'm now inspired to try the others as they are clearly explained. I appreciate that the Brochure cost and the estimated possible customers you can receive from each technique is given which helps me decide if it's a tip worth trying or not.The length makes for an easy read. Enough tips to inspire you to act, but not enough to overwhelm you.I also like that a plan to grow your business is included.A great resource for any rep who has already joined because you'll then be able to act on the tips right away.
