ColumbiaMen's PFG Tamiami II Long Sleeve Shirt

The Columbia Men's Tamiami II Long sleeve is an exceptionally light and fashionable long sleeve shirt.Part of the PFG (Performance Fishing Gear) line, it's advertised under their "Omni-Shade" billing, which is part marketing, but it really does offer great sun protection and wicking for such a light material. Living in the South Carolina low country I can tell you first hand, it is excellent for boating, fishing, hiking, and other outdoor activities.This is worth mentioning, because I would highly recommend the long sleeve version of this shirt if you intend to use it outside, especially in water sports where the sun can be brutal and effective sun protection is important. One of the killer features for me was the convenient sleeve ties. on the side of the sleeves there are loops and ties to keep the sleeves up, it seems simple but it's so much more convenient than constantly pushing or re-rolling sleeves like I have to with other shirts.It's also a great casual button down. They offer nice bright colors which is a nice change of pace from some of the more natural, slate, khaki and olive colors you'll see on a lot of outdoor wear. I purchased my first shirt from a Columbia outlet and it quickly became one of my favorite shirts, so I purchased this one on-line. I haven't had any wear issues with either shirt so far, it's been several months on the first and a month on the second.SIZING EXPLAINEDIn reading other reviews there is a lot of confusion on the sizing of this shirt. I had a chance to try on various sizes. I'm normally an XL, in trying on the XL in the store, there was a lot of extra room especially in the back.IMPORTANT, This is not a flaw in the sizing, this is the style of shirt. Fishing shirts typically have many large pockets, and extra room in the torso/back. part of this is designed to allow fisherman to store gear, even large items, in those pockets without making the shirt tight against them.I also tried the Large size, to compare. It fit very comfortably, as I would expect in a standard fit. I chose to get the Large size because the tighter fit looked good, and I don't expect to do as much serious fishing as just wearing the shirt around town. I bought a large on-line as well and the fit was comparable to the one I bought in the store.CONCLUSIONThis is a great active shirt, that will also look good as a casual button down. Recognize this is sold as a fishing shirt, and make sure you adjust the size you order to fit your specific needs. Enjoy.

I usually wear an XL, sometimes even an XXL when it is cut small. In this shirt, an XL fits me like a typical XXL. I got the Large and it fits me perfectly.I love this shirt model. It a win. This color is pleasant and happy. It will show thru printing on your undershirt.I have tried other brands making a very similar design, and Columbia does it the best. The others have a lot of loose threads, the Columbia is made to the highest standards.Extremely versatile, exceptionally breathable. Light as silk. People mistake it for silk. Comes wrinkled but that washes out.

I would have given this shirt a 5 star review, but the issue with sizing prevents me from doing so. I have 2 of these in the short sleeve version and LOVE them. The shirt itself is excellent: lightweight, breathable, and provides sun protection. They have gone with me for international trips in hot countries and performed extremely well. Both of my short sleeve ones are XXL and they fit great. The long sleeve version is the same shirt, just with sleeves. One would think to order the same size since it's the same shirt and same brand. Nope. The XXL long sleeve was super baggy and big enough for someone who is morbidly obese. Not sure why there is such a difference in sizing between the two versions. If you are going to get the long sleeve version, which I highly recommend, then be prepared to exchange it due to sizing issues or just order a size smaller than you normally would. Bottom line- excellent quality outdoor shirt with minor sizing issues. Plan accordingly.

Great shirt. Runs a bit large so I ordered a medium which fits very well.Love the colour and that it offers sun protection.

I probably have about 15-20 of these Columbia Men's Tamiami shirts in both long sleeve (like this one I'm reviewing) and short sleeves. They are mostly all in a size Small. A couple of them are in Medium, and this Red one that I just bought is in Extra Small (first time I buy this size, just to try it out). My chest is about 36" - 37".So here's a summary:- Long or Short sleeve -- it doesn't matter for the Columbia Men's shirts: THEY ALL FIT BIG- I've bought a couple of their Medium sizes in both long and short sleeve, and I feel like I'm wearing an oversized trash bag or like a could fly away as if I were a kite. The Mediums are HUGE (they're not even "Large", but they seem to be extra large), even though that is what I wear in Tommy Bahama, Izod, Merrell, Chaps, Dockers, etc.- The "perfect" size for me in the Columbia brand is probably a size Small, even though I almost always wear a Medium in any other brand; however...- This Extra Small fits well too. I only prefer the size small (even though I'm a Medium in every other brand) because I prefer the slightly looser fit for these in the hot summers of Arizona.SUMMARY: Buy one size small. These are excellently-built shirts in either short or long sleeves. They are great for sitting out in the sun because of their SPF. They have tons of pockets and little attachment points, which I love. They wick the sweat away great while still remaining comfortable. Definitely a buy!
