I tried two other brands (Keen, Vivobarefoot) and was about to give up finding an insulated waterPROOF, VEGAN (Keen. What a nightmare), barefoot winter boot (Vivobarefoot, not at all insulated). I've been in barefoot shoes for over a decade and every winter... forced into outdoor vegan, HEAVY, binding, traditional boots. This year I once again looked for vegan options. This boot is truly insulated! I've walked in city sleet, snow, and an early spring squall. My water 'repellent' coat caved and I arrived home soggy EXCEPT my feet. Warm and dry. Most of all enjoying barefoot comfort. I look forward to being a long term customer of Xero Shoes!I will also point out I bought men's as they tend to be wider and I have wide feet and like to layer socks when the temps drop into the teens. I don't know how wide women's boots are but it's my experience they are too narrow for me. If you have wide feet and plan to layer sock you may want to contact Xero before you order or buy men's.

Good and comfortable fit, in the beginning they where waterproof, but quickly they loose this ability where the boot bends.

I’m on the road for work and I’m always in areas where the ground is nature (not even-leveled cement) so I really feel great when I’m training on any rough ground! The boots make great contact with the ground, they are very snug and free, very cool looking, super comfortable too! Get these boots!!!

I have plantars fasciitis and after spending several hundred dollars trying to find a brand of footwear that works, I discovered Xero. I loved the hiking boots I bought last year and went straight to these for a pair of winter boots. Today it’s 20 degrees, 7” snow, and 40mph winds. I only hiked about a mile but my feet were toasty warm. Note: the women’s hiking boots I bought first were too narrow (I have a wide foot). I called Xero and they suggested ordering the comparable men’s size as they are made wider, and the fit was perfect. Ordered men’s again this time and went up a half size so I could wear my thick winter socks.

I ordered my shoe size, 7.5 and these shoes fit perfectly. I wear them with arch support inserts because of previous foot fractures, yet I can feel more natural movement within my foot when walking. I have not yet tested them for waterproofing in rain or snow. They were rather expensive, which was why I gave them 4 stars rather than 5.
