A great oven thermometer
I like the plainer face of this oven thermometer but wish it were even larger so it would be easy to read.

No More Burnt Cookies!
After moving in to my current house, I realized that everything I was putting in the oven was coming out burnt. I shortened my cooking times, but still, cookies and pizza would burn on the bottom. I then started setting the oven 10 degrees lower, which helped. Eventually, I bought this thermometer; and realized that my oven is about 20-25 degrees hotter than you set it (depending on the set temp)! Thanks to this thermometer; I am no longer burning everything. I leave it hanging off of the top rack, so I can always check the actual temp. It's pretty easy to read the thermometer through the door of the oven. (Which is good; thanks to this thermometer, I've realized how much heat is lost when I open the oven door!)As other reviewers have pointed out; it does take some time to equilibrate with the actual temp, based on how this type of thermometer works (by expanding metal). I find that if I preheat the oven while mixing cookie dough or chopping veggies for the oven, the thermometer is pretty accurate by the time I'm done and ready to put the food in. If I just stick food in as soon as the oven's done preheating, then the thermometer won't have time to equilibrate. My recommendation is to play around with the placement of the thermometer the first few times you use it to look for hot spots, rather than trying to move it around while the oven is running, because of the lost heat when opening the door and the time it takes to read a difference in temp. Over time, you'll get a feel for how accurate (or inaccurate) your oven's temperature settings are. Not the fastest process, but it works.Besides, this thermometer is inexpensive and it saved my baked goods!

It looks like it tracks my oven temp
This is a difficult review because I bought this one and a KT Thermo 3" thermometer together and used both of them to at the same time to check my oven temp. When the oven beeped at 350, both were way behind. Eventually the Admetior caught up and seemed to track the oven but about 25 degrees under. The KT was about 60 degrees under. When I advanced the oven temp to 375, and then to 400 the KT was way out but the Admetior was closer to the oven temp as shown. So I would need another thermometer to really check the accuracy because just because the Admetior was closer to the oven temp doesn't mean it was right. I can't even say whether the oven temp at 350 was right when it beeped or right when the Admetior caught up.

Great little oven gadget
Great item to have for your oven! I've been wanting this little gadget for awhile now, and finally made the purchase. πI suspected my oven in my apartment was way off by about 25-50 degrees, as eveything I cooked or baked was taking way longer then the directions stated or as I would usually cook something. I would have to keep putting things back in for added time, and crank up the oven temp which was frustrating to say the least....So I preheated my oven to 350 degrees, and after 25 minutes placed this thermometer inside the oven (hanging from the top) and left it in there for 30 minutes. I then checked it, and sure enough it was 25 degrees lower then I had set the oven measuring at 325 degrees. So now I know when I cook/bake something I need to set my oven 25 degrees higher then what the stated temperature should be.Problem solved π

Mediocre product
The most important thing about the product is the accuracy of the temperature. From my testing, it appears to be accurate to within 5 degrees, which is enough for my baking needs. It is an all metal product so it stays in my oven. One of the main problems are the metal feet that keep it standing. They are thin and bend easily, especially when it is hot. I've had it bend on me several times, which means it won't stand accurately and I keep having to bend it back. It is no longer perfectly flat due to that. The hook on top is poorly designed. The notch isn't all that wide, either, so in the case of my oven, it won't hang on the rack because the diameter of the metal on my racks are too thick for this. So then I have to rest it flat on the grate, but the problem is that the feet are actually separated by a gap in the middle. You can't see that in the frontal picture of the product. That means its easy for it to not sit balanced and fall between the metal bars of the rack.In terms of how quickly it will read, it does take some time. I think that is to be expected but I wish it were at least three times faster if that were possible, though I am not comparing it with a similar thermometer. There are times when I've had the oven heated and ready to go, and I realize I forgot to put the thermometer in there just to check what my real temperature is (the oven readings are rarely accurate). Once I put it in, it will take over 5 minutes at least to get up to 450-500 degrees, the temperature at which I bake my artisan breads and pizzas. So it gives you a proper reading, but the overall design could have been better.
