Accurate well built water sensor but needs adjustments if using the latest Samsung ST app.
Purchased the Aeotec Water Sensor to use in my kitchen. I installed a new faucet and dishwasher and wanted a leak sensor as insurance in case I overlooked anything during the installation. This sensor is very sensitive and reacts quickly to the presence of moisture. It also detects vibrations/shocks. The vibration sensor will report if the sensor moves slightly however it will not alert if you walk past it or run a vacum next to it. A temperature sensor is built into it which was another incentive to buy this one. 4 metal sensors which take temp/moisture readings are located on the back. If like me you have radiant floor heating then the temp sensor provides an accurate reading for heat from the floor at the time the temp is measured.I use the Samsung SmartThings hub v 2 and purchased the Aeotec sensor to integrate it into my home monitoring system. It does pair with ST v2 however you will need to download a device handler to your ST hub. This is why I rate the Aeotec 4 stars instead of 5. Hoping to be able to adjust the temp sensor to provide reports triggered by degree of change in temperature. Currently it sends reports every 3 hours based on time span rather than on changes in the readings its sensing. Finally for Smartthings users I would advise you to use the ST classic app. I am not sure if the fault is with Samsung or Aeotec but the new ST app fails to provide any current status reports when you use the sensor's icon on the ST app dashboard. The new ST app for android phones makes you mine through all the data collected from every device connected to the ST hub in its notifications tab instead of just being able to click on the icon and examining the data for the Aeotec sensor.

It works.
The media could not be loaded. I will breakdown the review into the following areas: Build Quality, Function, Final ThoughtBuild Quality - Right out of the box and holding it in my hand the device feels solid and not something cheaply made. The material is plastic but feels high quality. All the surfaces and corners are smooth to the touch. The four sensors in the back are all gold plated. The lone single button on the device is pleasant to press on and the LED light surrounding it is bright and clear. Overall, it is a high quality product from a physical standpoint.Function - The device works as advertised. When it comes in contact with water it immediately makes a beeping sound from its speaker.Final Thought - This is not the cheapest water sensor out there and it is my first experience with one so I can’t really compare it to any other products. Having said that, I don’t regret purchasing it and would whole heartedly recommend this product for peace of mind. It is solidly build, a breeze to setup if you already have an existing Z-wave network and most importantly it just works. I have already found a place for it next to my water heater in the garage.

The best z-wave water sensor just got better!
I’ve been a fan of Aeotec for a few years now as I have been dabbling in setting up smart home products for myself and others. As a user of three generations of their products (and both this and the first gen water sensor), I can say that they are built well, function as expected, and somehow manage to refresh their line with smaller products which include even more sensors.Specifically with the Water Sensor 6, it gives you the ability to either place on the floor (which I’m not a fan of, but depends on your situation), or the use of the separately purchased docking station, which allows for mounting on a wall - well above any potential flood. For anyone with experience of the original Aeotec Water Sensor, you’d know the battery life was always fantastic, the new 6 should be no different, which is important because it’s usully the first sensor you’ll forget about and the last one you want to wind up replacing batteries in. As a nice upgrade, it can also measure temperatures (think freeze earnings), vibration (say someone trying to move the sensor), and something I never thought would be a benefit, a decent little siren (handy when no one is home with access to your smart home platform to see a notification).Although this review is specifically for the Water Sensor 6 alone, I want to note the benefits of the Dock option..- option for constant usb power- option for two wired probes for monitoring two nearby locations (provided)- allows for wall mounting (so even if your basement for instance starts to flood, you won’t burn out your sensor)Overall, would absolutely recommend!

Easy to install, alarm not loud.
Easy to install and pair with smartthings hub.Solid design.Note: the alarm is not very loud although you are probably buying this for the smart home push notifications.
