Nice size for an IT commuter, some odd design quirks...
I got this to carry my 13" laptop to work, and for that purpose it works *fairly* well. I very much like the shoulder straps and how they connect - it's a much easier backpack to put on, and to wear, than the Ogio No Drag pack I wore previously. And for very light commuting, the size is nice - I can fit my 13" laptop, iPad, wallet, keys, etc. in the pack without any problems. As others have pointed out though, there are a few odd design decisions. First - there is zero padding at the bottom of the laptop sleeve. Nothing like setting your backpack down with your $1,000 laptop in it, and hearing the thunk as your laptop hits the floor through the bottom of the backpack. It wouldn't have hurt Icon to put SOME padding at the bottom of the pack. And secondly, that big buckle in the middle looks like it secures everything in place, but it doesn't hold either the laptop flap shut, or the inner flap for smaller items. It's essentially decoration (used to keep the expansion area compressed). So your laptop is held in only by the zippers, and by the velcro flap inside that compartment. It would have been easy to have that outside buckle cover the whole backpack, making it more secure.Overall, it works, fairly well. It's comfortable, and carries my commuting items with ease. Just wish the design oddities weren't there!

Great so far.
Some people have stated the back straps are not adjustable. This is not correct. You tighten the bottom straps and it adjusts the top straps, just like on an ordinary backpack. I can see where it is possible to over stuff the bag and use the large zippers to force it closed. The large zippers would give you the leverage you need to damage them if you carelessly over stuff the bag. I am able to fit my Toshiba 17" laptop in the bag easily and still have room for a notebook and other things I might need when riding to class. Oversized things can be attached to the outside of the bag with the adjustable strap on the back of it. Like when I go to the gym I can put my shoes on the outside, and my clothes and water bottle inside.I wanted a bag that rode comfortably and didn't shift around to distract me while I was riding. This bag does exactly what I needed and I am very happy with it so far.My only complaint would be with the plastic clips that are on the chest strap and outside strap/ The feel really cheap and don't line up easily. The life of those clips is my only concern. If they last awhile then I see no reason not to buy this bag again.

Smart purchase
Highly visible. For me, it negates the need to buy a bright colorful jacket or helmet, which isn't really my style.I commute daily and I've also taken a trip over 400 miles. It sits very well on my back and because it is not a hard shell style, it conforms to your my body's position. I can fit everything I need in it. Laptop/Tablet, lunch, cell phones, remotes, etc. I even use it when I'm not on the bike.Downside: The shoulder straps aren't adjustable. They seem to be made to fit over a riding jacket so when I ride without one, the straps have play in them and the bag slumps down a few inches. You can adjust the bag around your waist and in the chest area, but you can't tighten up the should straps like a regular backpack. Not a huge deal. I just prefer everything to be snug while I'm riding. The upside to that downside is that because there is some play in the shoulders, if you're not wearing a jacket, or wearing anything thinner than a biker jacket, the backpack will catch the wind and send it right down your back. It feels SO good on hot day!Overall, great buy.

Sturdy, slim pack with excellent weight distribution
As a lightweight daily commuter bag, this is a fantastic option. My use case was pretty simple: I ride 60 miles round-trip with a 5-pound, 14" laptop, some small tech tsatskes and a change of clothes, and wanted something relatively small with good weight distribution. Regular backpacks, even with a small chest strap, pulled back on the shoulders and didn't center the weight well, so I began looking at motorcycle-specific bags. After debating between this and the venerable Kriega R25 for a while, I ultimately landed on the Squad pack for being more compact.Functionally, I couldn't be happier with it. The laptop slots in nicely into the back compartment with a little room to spare, and the main compartment is just large enough to accept a rolled up pair of jeans and shirt. Weight distribution and range of motion is excellent. With the straps fitted appropriately to your gear, the chest harness does a great job of keeping the pack anchored without any uncomfortable strain on the shoulders. It's a night-and-day change from riding with a typical backpack configuration, and having the additional weight move with you consistently helps when you have to make a quick swerve. The small outer pocket is handy for quick-access items, and the internal pouches in the back compartment and lid of the main compartment are great for stashing cash and other necessities. The bag is definitely on the smaller side, and I actually see this as a positive thing. It has enough space for the essentials but not much more, so the incentive is to leave all the random stuff that tends to accumulate in backpacks at home. Normally, I find Icon's product branding brash, but other than the one prominent logo this bag is pretty tame by cycle gear standards. The bag looks great, if you're not opposed to the military-scifi fanfic design. The only real cons I've found are that the buckles on the chest harness look and feel a bit cheap. Not to the degree that there's concern about them breaking anytime soon, but I'll probably replace them with something a bit sturdier anyway. Having some ventilation in the chest harness would be nice in the summer months, but given that it's responsible for taking the weight of the pack that may not be feasible. The big Icon logo is a minor annoyance, though that's a personal pet peeve. All in all, it's a great pack and I'd highly recommend it to anyone with similar needs. In terms of value for price, it's a a definite win.
