Avenue Verte- London to Paris by Bike

Back it up with GPS!
Essential for the trip. Would have liked page numbers on the edge of the page/map so that I could find the next page quickly as there are two different routes, and I was also doing the trip backwards. I did get a little lost here and there due to a lack of detail on the map. This was quickly rectified with gps on the phone. The signs in France were so good that there was long periods where I didn't even open the map. Back in the UK was a whole different story, sadly- signs were stickers on lamp posts. As lamp posts are cylindrical it was some times hard to work out in which direction the arrow was pointing. This is when more detail on the map was needed. That was if you even spotted the sticker in the first place.Had a great time though. Cant wait to do it again. Be careful cycling out of Paris- the wooded/park areas have some seedy activities going on which was quite an eye opener for my 10 year old daughter.

Handy guide but don't rely on for measuring distances
I primarily used this for planning sections of my AV ride from Dieppe then clockwise from Gournay-en-Bray via Beauvais and around taking in Vernon and back up to Gournay and back to Dieppe. Routinely found distances in the book to be out by 20-30%, so beware and the book didn't make it easy to calculate if you happened to be going in the opposite direction. I used the Accueil Vélo site (and for accomodation) to compile a GPS route which I checked matched what was in the guide route wise. I strongly advise anyone doing this route to have either a backup like a proper OS map or a GPS route. Trying to use this book to navigate would be a painfully slow way to nav the route and you can't completely rely on the AV signposting but it is pretty good.

Like the book - not sure how it will work turning the pages whilst on the bike given that each map covers such a short distance

Great little guidebook.
Well illustrated with just the right amount of information. Contains two different routes. As with all guidebooks like this, you'll need another map if you stray too far from the path, but it's easy to follow.
