Good quality Old Series
Bought to replace the DVD equivalent set. Good purchase. Video quality for most of the action good. Sound could have been better, but not bad considering the age.

Buck Rogers in the 25th Century - Complete Blu-ray
Probably a set best reserved for core fans or the highly curious but for a slice of late 70’s science fiction it’s not a total waste of money. The HD remastering isn’t likely as painstaking as, say, the work done on ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’ a few years back but it remains a huge improvement over standard definition and in actual fact, the special and visual effects largely aren’t ‘bad’, they’re just of the time the series was made. It clearly was an expensive show for its time and they were trying to do some complicated visuals on a TV budget. The concept is easy enough - Captain Buck Rogers, a space pilot from 1987 is accidentally frozen in his starship and blown into a wide orbit which returns him to Earth in 2491 long after nuclear war has devastated the planet and human society has been rebuilt. Encountering Colonel Wilma Deering and co-operating with her on various missions, Buck has to learn to exist 500 years out of his own time. That is, when Princess Ardala of the powerful Draconian Empire isn’t trying to destroy the Earth so she can get her hands on him............Story wise season 1 is pretty all over the place, veering from the enjoyable to the patently ridiculous but it colourful and fun. Season 2 reboots the show’s concept and cast into an uneasy blend of original ‘Star Trek’ and original ‘Battlestar Galactica’ as Buck and Wilma leave Earth and join the Searcher spacecraft looking for lost tribes of Earth’s nuclear past. However, it has to be said that it does try to be less silly and a bit more serious than season 1. It’s not entirely successful at doing so though and as the series was cancelled midway through production of the second season there’s no proper finale either. As has been noted, there are no real extras apart from the inclusion of the non HD theatrical version of the original pilot (which in my opinion is better than the television pilot although the different material in the television version better sets up the first season, so it’s a toss up between them) and syndicated non HD versions of ‘Flight of the War Witch’ from season 1 and season 2’s ‘Journey to Oasis’. It’s a real shame no effort was made to include anything at all as there must be plenty to talk about given the series history.

The 25th Century Renewed
Classic Twelve Disc DVD TV Box Set Comprising Of Both Two Seasons Of The Cult Series Buck Rogers In The 25th Century. This Is The Fondly Remembered Series Starring Gil Gerard & Erin Gray. unlike The region Two release of The series which had both series on separate To buy DVD's and offering really no extras To speak of This lavish French import includes all The episodes from both seasons which have all been remastered offering excellent picture quality vastly superior To The region Two releases of which I did own. The Excellent interactive Menu's on These Disc's are all in French Though you can easily activate The episodes and change These To English speaking I can Tell you Buck and Wilma Have never sounded or looked better. Extras include a 30min interview with The creator of The series legendary producer Glen A Larson. olso a respective look back at The series alas This is in French but with plenty of excellent clips of The series on view Throughout it you Don't really notice it again when you consider nothing was released as extras for The region Two releases. The collection comes complete with an Episode Guide booklet True This is all in French but again lavished with colour stills from The series stunning artwork on The cover of The DVD Box set is Taken from The original poster for The 2hr pilot episode. if you love This series for The moment This is The version To go for Even series Two which was considered a bit weak after The original classic first season of The series looks like it's been given a complete new make over for This release. It went To The wire for Delivery Date To me But it's been worth The wait This Iconic series as finally been given The release That it Deserves.

BUCK ROGERS BLASTS INTO 2016
First the packaging.A thin cardboard sleeve with nice artwork and photos on back, two plastic clam shell containers, one for season 1, one for season two, and a nice A4 double sided poster of buck and wilma. The set contain all episode from both seasons beautifully remaster in 1080 high def, Buck never looked better especially as these prints have come from the HD masters, this is a big improvement on the dvd release although they were pretty clear for there time. The sound is rich and deep, a 2.0 LCMP, you have the option of listening to music and sound effects without audio, it would have been nice if a 5.1 sound track had been done like the Space 1999 blu rays where there is a music option only. The only two minus points i can think of is it would have been better to have the movie version in high def as here it is presented in standard def, the tv pilot is in HD and contains extra scene shot to balance out the series although a scene is missing which is in the movie, by comparing the movie in SD you can see how good the remaster of the pilot ans subsequent episode are.The other niggle is it would have been nice to have had an interview with either Gil Gerard or Erin Grey as both actors do quite a few conventions. The series itself is great fun, season one is a cross between a bond/cop show in the disco era, its retro cool, season two not so good as it was transformed into Battlestar Galactica meets Star Trek with a budget cut, gone was all the lycra and lip gloss, plus twiki"s voice chaged and the javascript:void(0)addition of a wooden commander and a terrible robot call Creighton.By mid season twiki"s voice by Mel Blanc returnd as did Wilmas lycra body suits. If you are happy with the qaulity of the original Battlestar relase on blu ray then you will be pleased with this versionI highly recommend this product for clarity and quality and am baffled by any negative reviews re remastering.

Greatest 70s 80s TV Sci fi with campy fun!
Growing up during the 70s tv shows we’re trying to capitalize on the Star Wars phenomenon. Battlestar Galactica was a serious well intended effort but frankly got confusing for anyone under 13 years old.I being a 8 year old Star Wars crazed nut found Buck Rogers in the Twenty Fifth century and was hooked! The costumes were bright and colorful and the characters interesting! Tweeky the droid voiced by the amazing Mel Blanc created a comedic atmosphere in the story and side kick. Wilma was beautiful (even today 😉) stories were simple but also really good! And Buck was a cool guy like Han Solo in Star Wars with a Six Million Dollar Lee Majors look. And the special effects for its time were good! This blu ray set is a must have for the fan of this era.

Très cool!
Très kitsch et souvent un peu grotesque, mais fidèle à mes souvenirs! Très divertissant!
