This is a spectacular work - one of those books that you can't believe hasn't been written before now. It covers every aspect of art as propaganda, from advertising to state control across the world. Anyone interested in getting a message across using visual communication should read and learn from this book. The history of art as propaganda turns out to have a surprisingly long history dating back well into ancient times. And everyone was at it: religious leaders, good and bad rulers, political agitators, self promoters and professional marketeers. The three hundred examples reproduced in the book are well selected, well reproduced and well laid out with just the right amount of accompanying text: factual and to the point. This is one of those rare things: a work that serves as an academic reference book, interesting reading for the lay reader, and a coffee table book all at the same time. Highly recommended. One might even say Moorish.

good information inside
No dust cover and published in a format usually for lower quality books. Still, good information inside.

I dig it
Moore does a great job of presenting material with academic depth in an engaging way, but without watering it down––the history of the modern world, through a focus on propaganda. Love the selected art and the analysis.

Two Stars
very well written; the argument, is eye opening. Some of this is used in marketing psychology...

Introduction (and no more)
I found this surprisingly superficial. However, as one would expect, the book is quite well illustrated and it does offer an overview of propaganda.
