Eye opening approach and so engaging
I’m new to the ACT system and I found Dr. Valderrama’s approach and guidance to be very relatable to my life. With so much talk and material out there on learning and helping one to be more mindful, I found this book and journal style and approach to be refreshing as it asks you to engage and write down your thoughts as you learn to step outside of yourself. You’ll learn how to defuse your inner critic from yourself so you can look at your perceived negative situation with more objectivity. I love this book with all the tools and techniques Dr. Valderrama outlines.

Supports creative/outside of the box thinking & nervous system regulation
This is a very helpful and handy journal that has been beneficial both personally and professionally. I've witnessed how the journal prompts encourage more adaptive cognitive reframes & overall greater creative thinking. Being a somatically oriented psychotherapist, I especially appreciate how Dr. Valderrama's compassionate approach to mindfulness supports a regulative/co-regulation relationship between individual and other. I look forward to continuing to use this manual.

A great companion for therapy!
Dr. Valderrama’s book is a fantastic tool for use in therapy with my clients. You can use it with ACT or in other CBT related therapies to accompany therapy or stand alone to increase use of mindfulness and reflection on what holds us back. I’ve recommended several of my clients to purchase this book, and I am enjoying the exercises myself.

Great for self guided introspection
Acceptance and commitment therapy journal has allowed me to guide my clients towards having more compassion with self. As a therapist trainee I’m always looking for great tools in order to advocate for clients.
