Venoma Deluxe Mecardimal Figure

My almost 6 yo loves these transforming cars and plays games with the cards for hours. Great quality for the price and so far they have held up well. Great toy for learning building skills.

Mecard is new for US but has been around for a few years now. Started out in South Korea in 2015 as Turning Mecard that quickly spawned a successful cartoon and toy line and some films. It's been trickling throughout most countries, and a new English dub of the show has been showing up on YouTube since early 2018 chiefly for US audiences, releasing as two 11 minute half-episodes every Friday/Saturday. The show reminds me a lot of Pokemon, so I will be using some references to Pokemon when explaining different aspects of the show/toys.The toys themselves are very similar to Bakugan. You convert the robot/animal figure into a car by holding down various parts the toy until you can get all the spring hinges to lock into place. Some are easier to convert than others, so little ones will need some help until they can do it on their own. Then you transform them from car into their battle form by having the car roll over one of the 3 included Mecard cards (which have metal embedded in them) that catch on magnets and unlock the hinges. Pretty neat little things, my two sons (6 and 12) really like them.If you're like me, I didn't know which of the many characters were the main ones and which ones are "filler". There will end up being a total of at least 30 deluxe Mecard (or Mecardimals as they are called on the show). There are 18 deluxe Mecard currently available as of March 2018, plus incoming Jumbo, Mega and some other types.The show has a group mostly consisting of kids who are the "tamers" of various Mecardimals. Think of Tamers like Pokemon Trainers to the various Pokemon. Here are the main Mecardimal figures for each Tamer based on the show (of which my sons and I have seen about 27 out of 52 episodes). Keep in mind the show is about the Tamers battling, and sometimes a winner of the battle can claim the loser's Mecardimal so the rosters are constantly changing:Tamer: Jason - main protagonist characterEvan (blue car - the main Mecardimal of the show)Phoenix (red car)Tamer: Isobel - main characterTero (green car)Mirinae (white car)Tamer: Ryan - main characterAlta (red car)Momoru (brown car)Tamer: Dabby and Dana (known as Team Goblin who share Mecardimals), antagonists similar to Team RocketMugan (black car)Kangshi (orange car)Tamer: Van Dine - main antagonist characterVenoma (black car) - not shown much on the show during the first half unfortunatelyThe other main Mecardimal is Tanatos who features into the plot for most of the first half of the whole series. Other Mecardimals frequently featured are Wingtok, Tador and Yurl. From there most of the other Mecardimals are shown sporadically mostly for one episode introductions and battles where they are exchanged among the Tamers.I hope this helps new fans of the show/toys who might be wondering which ones to get if they want to mirror the main characters shown on the show. They are all fun in their own way (we've collected all 18 deluxe Mecards so far), and are waiting for the rest to be released.
