This was exactly what we needed for a long trip in our Jeep Grand Cherokee with no roof rack. The door clips are easy to install, and are super strong and secure. We ran through two downpours on our 2,000 mile round trip and all our cargo stayed bone dry! I'm a new fan!It comes with its own heavy duty zippered storage bag. After our trip, I was able to fold up the heavy roof bag and fit everything (car top bag, anti skid roof pad, straps and door clips) back into the storage bag. I never saw that one coming! We ordered this for our summer trip to the beach. Every year or on any trip for that matter, we have so much stuff even packing lightly with our large family and limited storage room that our mini van is just jam packed with no extra space for comfort. Boy was this worth every single penny. When we received it we didn’t feel the directions were that clear or friendly, not even online. Especially if you didn’t have a built in rack or bars such as us so meaning trial and error to figure it out on the first run. Luckily our neighbors had purchased the same storage bag a few years ago and saw us getting it together so they helped us a bit to put it on the roof properly (as we did not have a rack) that was helpful. My husband and I did a trial run before our trip. We loaded it with chairs suitcases, blankets etc to see how it would do and what we might need to improve as far as packing. Boy was that the smartest thing we did. We had no issues and it held up well but we did have a little flapping in the very front of the carrier and a few things we needed to tweak with the tie down. The day of our trip and the first real time out it took a little while packing it properly and making sure everything was tied down tight. Once on the way out and on the road we were checking that thing every 10 minutes worried it would have issues or fly off, any crazy thing you could put in your head. We started off pretty conservative in speed and stayed around 65ish, but before long we were keeping up with traffic and hitting about 80ish. Not ONE issue. It held up beautifully. Nothing came apart or moved. We were going from Arizona to California so extream heat (hottest week of the year) temp got to 115, so no rain, but no damage anywhere either. Nothing melted (haha) or ripped or flew off. On our way home I practically forgot about it being up there on the roof. It was also much quicker in time to get it out on the roof and packed. Love this thing and wondered why we never purchased something sooner for all our family road trips. And there have been many. It should be noted that my husband did use a wench for extra tie down but this was because we also had a large sun canopy we were bringing along for the beach. This was not put in the bag but behind it. I was incredibly nervous about that slidding or falling off but nothing budged even a millimeter. I wish I took a picture but did not. Again this thing was worth every penny for us. It held bags for 7 people, all our beach chairs, extra duffle bags for towels and beach toys as well as a few pillows and blankets. I recommend it 100%, and look forward to our next camping trip which is usually dreadful for all the crap we bring! Happy traveling.

I purchased this to take to the beach and put extra things inside. Luckily we didn’t put our suitcases in there. It is supposed to be waterproof but it is neither waterproof or water resistant. I was so disappointed. Will be returning this!

It does not fit on every car. Time cosuming for installation.Waste of money.seller does not allow to return this.
