hard to see from the picture but this is made of hard acrylic type material that scratches easily but it is ok. the little latches on the sides to lock the top to the bottom slide all the way off so you have to be careful not to lose or crack them its fine but no exactly what i was looking for so now i will get the rubbermaid 3 in 1 cake n cupcake keeper that has a removable insert to be used for cupcakes, muffins and cakes and also has a handle for easier transport. the nice thing about this one above is that it is clear so your cake displays nicely.

I ordered the cake keeper because I have two rectangular NordicWare cake pans, and wanted to display / keep the cakes in something special. Am a little disappointed in the keeper--it seems to be made of a rather brittle plastic. The locking mechanism seems cheap. Time will tell....

I received my cake carrier on December 15, 2011. I have used the carrier once and was very happy with the looks of it and it did keep my cake very moist. When I was washing the bottom piece of the carrier, Nordic Ware Rectangular Cake Keeper, 9 by 13 Inch  I noticed a small crack in the bottom center where it has a small plastic dot. The carrier was not abused in any manner so I was very disappointed to find a flaw when I have only had it less than a month.

I got this for my Yule Log cake, and it was perfect! My only concern was that the the handle dips down, into the space, so the full height is not available, for the cake. It would be better if the handle sat on top of the carrier. The clips on the edges, are a little flimsy, but it held up fine, on our car trip. I like it, and look forward to using it again next year!

The quality of the plastic is poor. The tray might not support the weight of a birthday cake with layers. Also even thought it came well packed there were scratches all over the lid. I also dislike the locks, once they are quite tricky to deal with. If this was a $5 dollar ware it would be ok, but for $20 bucks one would wish for a longer lasting product and that one does not seem like it would be. I had to return it.

I purchased this for my daughter, who was into decorating birthday cakes and cupcakes for her kids. It's a good size, but kind of hard to store in between cake times. It's a little bit fragile, not the softer plastic like regular storage containers. It shows off the cake better, because it's very clear. The lid is high enough for most cakes.

There is no support in the center underneath to prevent cracking and eventual breaking. We end up just leaving the baked item in it's pan and covering it with 1 of the 2 parts this item comes with. The locking mechanism would be fine if it was on the opposite side; that way no cracking to the plastic.

The cake taker is fine. I was a little disappointed that you couldn't turn it over so that you could also store cookies in it. I had one that you could do just that as well as keep cakes and cupcakes in. Othersise I am satisfied with it.
