Great sub-$16 headphones.
I like this set because it has two earphones. Other sets that have one earphone just have the clamp that digs into your head. With two earphones, it feels even, and both ears are getting the call audio, and also helping block out ambient noise. (Why get a hands-free set to have to shield your open ear with your hand?)The microphone is a nice distance away, and comes with a windscreen that helps whistling "s"es and popping "p"s when you are talking. The microphone stem can be rotates all the way around, so the mic (and headphone wire) can be either on your left or right side. The sides are labelled "L" and "R", but that doesn't matter when using this set for calls that are splitting a monaural signal to both ears. If you are using it for skype calls on your PC, and also using it to listen to music on your computer, you'll probably want to have the microphone on the left for the music. On the cord there is a small inline volume control dial with an accompanying click button. The click button allows you to switch between music and calls when used with a cellphone. I do not have call waiting on my home phone, and I did not try it hooked up the computer, so I do not know what function it serves there. The adapters that come with this set are a great part of the overall value as well. The headset has a common "three ring (stereo sound+ mic)" 3.5mm plug. There is an short (30cm long) adapter to make it work with the "two ring (mono sound + mic)" 2.5mm plug that is on my cordless home phone. Also, there is a pink/green adapter to use with a home computer. That wire is ~1 meter in length.I considered getting the "Ge 26695 Voip In-Ear Headset With Inline Microphone", but I did not like the placement of the microphone. (On one side, dangling against the cheek) I prefer to have the microphone at the "y" on in-ear headphones.I cannot speak for long-term durability, as I have only had these for a short time.

Would not buy these again :-(
I rarely write critical reviews but after buying two of these at the same time( and unwittingly making a double mistake) I have to prevent others from doing the same. Unless GE makes changes to this headset model- there are far better choices for the same or less amount of money.Let me give credit where it is due. The boom mic is suitable for using on Skype. People heard me well enough, so the mic is not such a problem. The headset was a problem. Both in sound/volume quality and the fact that I have never in my life felt such an abrasive earphone sponge used on a headsets ear pieces!Since I listen to music on all my computers and also use Skype to make personal and business calls- there is no way I could use these headsets for more than 20 mins at a time, before my ears were begging for mercy.Seriously- I had to take them off because I actually felt like the exterior of my ears were being abraded. There were no long conversations on Skype with these on, nor were there leisurely hours spent listening to music while working. The headset, in my opinion, tends to run a bit snug- which obviously just added to the ear phone problem. Perhaps- if GE fixed the foam to something soft and cushy and boosted up the quality of sound and available volume on the unit, it would be a better product to use.I have no idea if they will consider making changes to this model or tossing it by the way side, somewhere in the future. To be honest- I am not waiting to find out.For the amount of headsets I buy in a year- and the various brands I have tried, these came in as #1 in the absolutely most uncomfortable to wear. That would be my main complaint:discomfort- with the secondary complaint being sound & volume quality.Heads up to those who prefer to adjust their sound in line ( on the cord of the headset) vs within your computer system: make sure you do an Amazon search with those critical key words or else you will get a listing of headsets with no volume control on the cord. From my discussions with others, it seems to be more important to people who wear headsets often, on pcs- Skype- Mp3 players, etc. to have this feature, than not.Don't make the mistake I made- or the double mistake I made.Avoid this model and save yourself disappointment and a useless headset.

Solid Performer for Price
Update 3/3/2016: After about three years, the headset has developed an echo, rendering it unusable. Still worth the money!Update 8/12/2015: This headset still works great after nearly 2 years of usage! Most days, I work from home. In the office, I have a very nice $100+ Plantronics headset. This is not the same, as you should glean from the price difference! This $15 GE headset works - it allows me to type while on conference calls all day. It is easier for me (and those on the other end) to hear what's going on compared to putting my cell on speakerphone. It was a challenge finding a headset that had one 3.5mm jack, but this is the one. Bonus adapter means you can also use this headset with your computer for Skyping and such. The mysterious button on the wire disconnects calls - if you're on one. If you're not, it starts Google Play Music on my Samsung Galaxy S3. Different cell phones will probably vary.Slight annoyances: the ear "pads" are very thin. I push them forward so they rest partially on my ears and partially on my head to avoid ear pain at the end of the day. The band that rests on the top of your head has no padding at all, so depending on how much hair you have, this may or may not be another slight discomfort. These things aren't a big deal, because the headset is so light, you don't feel it much anyway.Paying $100 for a headset would have been a greater discomfort for me. If you have the money, should you splurge on a more expensive headset? Of course! If you don't, get this guy!

You'll likely get this "Power Gear by Jasco" headset instead
Like several reviewers here, I bought these to augment a pair of GE 98974s I've had for years. What I received was not as described or as pictured. The headset comes in packaging branded "Power Gear" by Jasco, and the “COMFORTABLE FIT – Cushioned earcups swivel for a comfortable fit” from the item description no longer applies.Jasco is a product aggregator that has licenses to sell under GE, Power Gear and many other brands. Jasco's own website shows the older (better?) product and description, so I don't exactly blame Amazon for listing this wrongly. While this replacement may ultimately end up fine, the two stars are for the misleading description and picture. The GE-branded swivel-earcup version of this headset felt remarkably cheap and light, and I was amazed that it has survived as long. These ones feel even cheaper and lighter.(Note that pictures 2 and 3 on the product page do show the item as received. It's only the main picture and item description that are wrong.)
