For fans of Richard Scarry, Where's Waldo, Portland, and cycling!
Alison Farrell channeled her inner Richard Scarry in Cycle City! Fans of Scarry, lovers of Where’s Waldo, and animal and cycling fanatics alike will enjoy helping the mayor of Cycle City deliver invitations to various residents for the Starlight Parade (a bike parade through the city). The pleasant, interesting, but not too busy watercolor illustrations tell multiple stories at once and will keep readers young and old engaged read after read. A resident of Portland and a biking enthusiast, readers familiar with Portland can look closely for some Portland landmarks. The end pages are also worth a close look… I had no idea many of these bikes really existed!

Beautiful, Creative, Open ended. Never gets old.
My daughter fell in love with the book at 2.5. We finally had to quit using the library copy and purchase her one for home. It’s been over 8 months of reading and talking about cycle city on a daily basis. I’m so grateful her favorite book is so creative and open ended. There are so many other stories hidden amongst the pictures it rarely gets old for the adult! She’s also the most confident toddler bike rider in her friend group, perhaps cycle city has something to do with that too.

Appropriate age
My three year old granddaughter was not as enticed by this book as I'd thought. Maybe her parents preferred some other books but it may be that she was just a tad too young.

Gets better each time you read!
Beautiful, highly engaging book that encourages children to linger on each page finding characters. Easy to come back to for independent looking. Great for ages 4-7.

A fun, busy book
This book is similar to a Richard Scary book. Lots of detail means lots to look at enjoy. You find something new each time you read it.

Great book to re-read over and over again
We initially got this book from our library. Our daughter loved it so much we had to get it for ourselves. All the pages are full because there are many storylines happening, so it is great for rereading and focusing on one specific storyline.

Similar to Mamoko books and In the Town All Year 'Round ... all very popular in our library.

Pretty and inspiring
Nice and inspiring children’s book. Sweet drawings and can be read both as a cute little story, but even better as a finding-book. My kids love to find the bunny bike or the ambulance bike etc.

So much great detail!
This book is perfect for the child who like to spot little things. Each page asks a question and it becomes a little like a where’s Waldo but with little animals on bikes. Just adorable!
