Overall good book for kids
Very detailed pictures and descriptions on how the engine works, briefly touches on the other systems but does not get into them.

Puzzling Text
Has many good illustrations, but the language in the text is awkward and sometimes opaque, as though the author is writing in the British idiom, but not a native speaker of English, for example : "When the energy from the first explosion has used up, a new explosion occurs", and "Cylinders - they are made of super-strong metal and locked, but they open and close like bicycle pumps" - What? Needs a re-write.

Terrible quality of content
Someone threw together this book by downloading stock images and slapping them on the page with unclear, repetitive text. The definition format used in half the book doesn't read aloud well which is essential for the target audience, preschoolers. The graphics are poor - you need labelled diagrams to explain engines, not just isolated unlabeled photos. Of the 3 books I bought for my kindergartener to learn more about cars, this was the worst by far. He liked the Bo the Bear book a bit better and LOVES Car Science by Richard Hammond despite the reading level being for teens or adults.

Beware of poor grammar
Cannot say how the 6-year-old likes the book, yet, but the grammar is awful. The Quality of writing is a poor example for the target age group.
