Q: I got one just like this from another vendor and it has a strong chemical smell does this one?

The one I received did NOT have any chemical smells - Love it and customer service stands behind their product which is very rare these days. I love my Motivational Glass bottle, a healthy product purchase that I actually use!

Q: What is the length of the straw? I want to order some glass ones.

I just checked my straw and it's stainless steel and 13 1/8 inches long. It's a big straw

Q: Does it fit in a standard car cup holder? How about backpacks?

The bottle fits but very snug. The bottle is tall and does not fit without pushing it down firmly. Without the silicone sleeve it fits into the cup holder easily. I keep the bottle in a backpack most of the time as the pockets are a couple inches deeper than car cup holders. The short answers are Yes sort of, and Yes! I included a video!

Q: How is this steel strainer supposed to work? I mean you can't drink when it's in the bottle. Are we supposed to poke a hole w/the straw?

The strainer snaps in and is used only when drinking without the straw. It holds back any fruits or other flavorings you have added to your drink as you sip from the bottles' edge when using the bottle with the solid top. When using the lid with the straw, it is not necessary to use the strainer as there is no need to tip the bottle therefore the fruit or what ever you put into your beverage would not be coming to the surface needing to be strained back. I do suppose you could try to drill a hole in it for the straw to fit in but I don't see the point and you may just end up damaging the strainer. It's great to have options! This is an Awesome bottle and you get to choose how to use it! : )
