Interesting, But Not for the Reasons I Hoped For
I enjoyed reading this early account of a prisoner in Eastern State, but was disappointed that it did not treat so much her life but rather her religious conversion after she was imprisoned. It is more a propaganda piece for the prison's reform movement at that time. I was hoping to hear much more about her day to day life within the prison, how she managed, and maybe what her life was like before prison. Still, it is an interesting read and an important bit of history.
