Very good, recommended
I bought 3 dvds on the Kennedy's, this 3 part mini series, the 8 part mini series and the Kennedy wives (see also separate reviews). Both mini series are equally as good, the Wives not so good. This 3 part series concentrates specifically on JFK's term of office in depth and gives a good insight into what was happening with the Cuban crisis and the civil rights movement. The 8 part series covers a longer period of history and more of the family involvement. Recommended viewing. UPDATE - on 2nd watching down rated from 5 star (outstanding/excellent) to 4 star (very good/good).

An oldie, but a goodie
It is a really good series, which I am not sure has ever been on British tv, or if it was then it was a pretty long time ago. Each episode is pretty long though, so just be forewarned.

Great modern history extremely well told . Recommended.
Excellent british made mini series. Martin Sheen brilliant as JFK. Good cast throughout especially Vincent Gardenia as a very sinister J Edgar Hoover a man who had no liking for the Kennedy family. Contains some violence and racial abuse.

Fascinating story of a very powerful family
Well done again BBC, intriguing series, and l can only assume the story is based on actual events and is as true and accurate as possible.

JFK DVD EXLNT
Fantastic drama series documenting JFK's period running for and holding the office of US president in the early 1960s. Sheen is suitably charismatic and it's hard to believe Blair Brown isn't actually Jackie. For all the faults of the Kennedys, many of which are covered here, I tear up every time I get to the end. One of the things I was most shocked by on rewatching, was just how awful the racial situation was then, truly vile. Wish it was available as Blu Ray.

I read through the reviews before the purchase, and ...
I read through the reviews before the purchase, and I only expected a bit of Martin Sheen and a bit of American politics. It was all about these, but in addition also sparked my interests in the Kennedys, the battles the Kenney brothers fought, and also about the battles for freedom and civil rights in the 60s.As a movie, it is artistically interpreted, and what more one can say, it is Martin Sheen. On a sideline note it is quite entertaining to watch Edgar Hoover in the movie, who was the father of FBI.

Fascinating Mini-Series
I found this mini-series absolutely fascinating. Originally from 1983, this is still fresh and well acted. At around 5 hours in length, it tells the complete story of JFK's term in office in the 1960's. A must-watch!
