Soft and feminine. I chose to downsize from the Amazon recommendation for my weight and height. It still overlaps considerably in front, but rests more AT my shoulder instead of dropping off, as shown in the photos. The effect is more fitted and flattering for my figure type. Up to you!!! This is a beautiful design any way you choose. Affordable and will carry through many seasons. I like the soft and feminine look, so ordered more colors in this style. No pockets, but they would take away from the silhouette and this is why we carry a purse or pack.

I love wearing black cardigans. I actually like most black clothing, but try to have pieces that have something interesting about them, fabric, trim, embroidery, etc. This is velvety so it is a different sheen than many black items. I don't really like velvet in the summer, it just seems too heavy a texture, but that is just me.I saw a jacket similar to this in a catalog for 3 times the price. I really liked it and wondered if my favorite store (amazon!) might have a similar item. They did! That one had a shawl collar, but this one does not. It is long though, about to the back of my knees (I am 5'8".) The sheer chiffon ruffle is very nice as it give it a nice movement/flow as you move. It fit as expected. I wish it did come in a 2x though as my daughter really likes it, but the arms are snug on her. It is velvety. I don't want to call it "velvet" as that is a heavy, silk based fabric (but most are synthetics now.) It isn't heavy like that. It is more of a velour type of velvet which is on the thinner side. I do like it for this garment as a heavy velvet (like you might have in a velvet blazer) would be too stiff and not drape nicely. It is a cheaper fabric, so you can see like the lines of the velvet up close and it has a slight shine to it...similar to other inexpensive velvety items I have seen. I figured it would be like that (mostly by the price) so I wasn't disappointed. If you are expecting a thick plush velvet, you aren't going to get that. But for the style, it is better being thinner.I do wish it had a hook or ribbon at the front as the way the seams are, it has almost a natural closure point at the front waist. Maybe a shorter person finds the seam lower, but for me it is right at my waist (maybe slightly lower) at the front. The seam swoops downward toward the back in an arc type way. I think it makes the ruffle move better this way. A straight seam across your back wouldn't do that, although that cut is more flattering to your figure. In many plain jersey cardigans (they sell MANY of those here on amazon) I like a seam horizontally across your back waist because it really does make the jacket look a little better than an unseamed back.I am actually going to add a satin or chiffon ribbon to the front of mine so I can tie it shut at the front where the bottom and top part meet at the seam. I am not sure what I am going to find at the fabric store, but think it will be nice to have the option of closing it. It should look okay with the ribbon just flowing down too. It is really only a few stitches so if I don't like it, I can always take it off. It also doesn't have any pockets, which also isn't a super complicated fix, but since the ruffle and seam are there where a pocket would be inset, it might not work right. I will just have to be pocketless with this one. The top stitching is okay..I wish it were more of an an invisible stitch at the cuffs and neck/front, but since it is velvet, it isn't too noticeable. Overall it is a nice jacket. It isn't a high end piece, but it is different enough that it looks interesting and can be dressed up or down. Plus, since it is relatively inexpensive, you can get different colors!!

This is a ovely jacket, well made and very soft. I gave it 4 stars for a couple of reasons: 1) I ordered "purple" and this is not purple, it is more burgandy/wine colored, not a true purple and 2) I ordered the XL which is a size up from my normal L. It fit, but was a tad snug in the upper sleeve area. The material is stretchy so it would work but not the relaxed fit I was going for. I returned it.

Very nice addition to fall wardrobe. I ordered up one size since another review said arms were tight and glad so it can wear a long sleeved shirt. It is plenty long and roomy. I would love to get another color!!

I ordered the fuchsia and it is lovely, just like pictured. I got the XL due to other reviews saying the sleeves felt tight, even though I normally get L, and was glad I did. It really looks like a much more expensive jacket. I love the ruffle at the bottom. I am tempted to get another color!

This is more beautiful than the picture! I’m giving it three stars because it’s very small! I even ordered a large one size up than usual and it’s very tight. I’m returning it and getting an XL. Can’t wait to wear it!

This is a beautiful "blazer." I'm a sucker for 'dusters' (at or below knee-length coats, jackets, tops) and this has a lightweight and airy feel with just enough substance to be worn as a coat in the early spring/fall/winter months here in the South (Atlanta area). For points further north, as a cover for a dress, leggings, jeans, etc. but probably not a winter coat after October. It is a lightweight, flowy velvet, not a typical heavy velvet fabric.The color I've seen described as "Santa red" in some reviews here, which almost turned me off from trying it, as I think of a brighter red for Santa suits. As an artist, I would call this a medium dark red (almost exactly Cadmium Red Deep Hue from my box of acrylics if that helps). The color "wine" isn't a bad descriptor, but most "wine" colors have some purplish tones...this does not. At all.Others describe a seam that falls right at/just below the buttocks (just below on me). The seam starts in the front where the drapey fabric is attached to the bottom of the velvet, thus it runs from the hip area in front, and curves downward toward the back on both sides. It's actually not a bad look, because it draws your eye away in the front from hips to back. In the Wine Red color, it's somewhat noticeable but not a dealbreaker for me. I also own the Black, and you can't really see it with that color.I am 5'6, size 16/18, 40C bust and ordered XL; it fits nearly perfectly. As others have written, it would've been nice to have one closure maybe near the waist or just below the bust to give it a little more fitting shape but it's something I can live with (or add myself; haven't decided).Overall, for the price, I think this is a wonderful addition to my fall/winter wardrobe in both colors. Will update my review after some wash and wearings (just received them both this week) to see how they hold up.

I purchased three of these funky jackets! They are soft, cool, and comfortable. Good price too! If you enjoy the Boho feel, I'd purchase one or two of these while they last. I have no problem with the seam at the back, as described by others, and several sizes fit me. As the jacket does not close, you can get away with a range of sizes, and so I bought the really beautiful blue shade, the soft pink, and the dark green. All really attractive and just slightly edgy. Perfect!

Just received this green velvet long jacket. It’s beautiful!! I should have ordered a medium, but based on the reviews about a size up I placed my order. I will keep it, but when I purchase the black one. I’ll order the medium. Will look great with jeans.
