Ecclesiastes and Proverbs (World English Bible) Paperback – December 14, 2022

This book on Ecclesiastes is a more modern translation over the older King James Version of yesteryear. It keeps the overall meaning while taking out the thees and thous etc. What I like about this book and translation is that it is so readable and understandable.For me, I love the book of Ecclesiastes as it has so much meaning about life and it is still true to this day. And of course Chapter 3 regarding the seasons for everything is so much easier to read and understand. (Remeber the old song Turn, Turn Turn taken from this book of the Bible? Now it is put to words that have such meaning.Very highly recommend this book!

I like this version because it is a readable yet mostly literal translation. I also appreciate how the version uses Yaweh instead of "the LORD", "assembly" for "church", and Yaweh of Armies instead of Lord of Hosts, as well as avoiding other transliterations that I tend to gloss over because of familiarity. The font is not too small, the pages are of the right thickness, and the font stands out crisply against the bright paper. It's a paperback, so I expect the cover to wear quickly, but I placed it in a bible cover to slow the wear.I also appreciate the explanatory notes and quotation references at the bottom of the page - not all printed World English Bibles have those.

For some reason, I misunderstood this was another version of the Bible. I thought it was a commentary. It was a quick read, as is my King James Version. I didn't gain any additional benefits or understanding about the story than I already had. That didn't bother me, as I have always loved the story of Ruth.

I have many bibles . This WEB bible is easy to navigate and read . It resembles the Amplified Bible where it describes certain things that should be clarified . The Psalms which are poetic remain the same . The New International Bible is not easy reading like the WEB bible is . And the price is right . Certain versions of the KJV bible don't have quote marks -which Jesus spoke . To tell you the the truth it should be rated 10 Stars . I read via my PC . So I don't have to buy a Kindle tablet . I thought that the Modern King James Version was really great. Now I feel that the WEB bible is even greater . I don't have any excuses for not reading the bible . Motels and prisons should offer this version of the bible .

I am reading other reviews and am confused. I obtained one book only, Joel, which is what I ordered. This is a completely acceptable book of Joel.I am in the road and am doing a Bible study, but don’t have my Bible in hand. I obtained this and it is fine. I am very grateful to be able to obtain this on line from Amazon for free. I have had a chance to compare this to other Bible texts. It is consistent with them. This book is open to interpretation.Thank You…

One of the very nice things about the World English Bible is that you can get single books of the Bible such as Ecclesiastes, Psalms, Proverbs, Job and so on which is convenient for using it too study and mark up with the very nice Kindle reader. Certain books of the Bible are really outstanding Classical Literature such as Proverbs and Psalms and should be available as a single volume. The World English Bible provides this convenience.

This book is nearly impossible to read due to its small print.

Purchased the paperback version as I was looking for another hard copy. This one does NOT include the Apocrypha books that every other World English Bible translation has that I have seen or currently own. Highly disappointed in that aspect of it.Other than that, it's a great translation and recommend it. But be warned that there are books missing from the paperback version even though it is supposed to be the complete World English Bible.

The World English Bible is an absolutely terrific translation. It uses the Majority Text for the New Testament, which is ideal for those who believe that God not only inspired His Word, but also preserved it. The Majority Text is not to be confused with the Textus Receptus that the KJV is based on; neither is it to be confused with the critical texts that most modern versions are based on - and it's about time we had a translation based on the overwhelming majority of manuscripts available to us! As a result, we can confidently assert that "God was revealed in the flesh" (1 Timothy 3:16). The NIV, ESV, NASB, etc, are far weaker here.There are some really wonderful features with the WEB Bible. For example, God's name is rendered "Yahweh" rather than the traditional "LORD". We read of "John the Baptizer" - very few translations are brave enough to depart from the usual rendering of "John the Baptist". We read of "Sheol", "Hades", "Gehenna", "Tartarus" - with explanations provided in brackets - rather than the flattened out generic "hell", which is a theological construct rather than an actual translation.There are some very useful explanatory notes inserted in the main text in brackets - just enough to be useful, but not too many so as to be distracting. I'm really excited about this Bible. It is a fresh updating of the ASV, and is therefore a highly accurate translation, but has the additional bonus of reading very well. I would love it to really take off. After all, it is in the public domain. There are no greedy publishing houses seeking profits here, thanks be to God!Perhaps most wonderful of all, we can rejoice in the expansive rendering of Luke 2:14: "Glory to God in the highest, on earth peace, good will toward men." The alternative rendering found in most modern versions restricts the scope of God's good will by comparison. Once again, different underlying manuscripts.Oh, and we also get the longer ending of the Lord's prayer: "For yours is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory forever." (Matthew 6:13) Again, the manuscripts that most modern versions are based on do not include this in the main text; and yet the Didache, circa A.D. 100, does include this ending of the Lord's Prayer.

I like this Bible version from Genesis to Revelation. I also agree with their copywrite reasons, as long as I don't miss use their version, I don't have to keep quoting (WEB), I agree that no one should have full copywrite of the Bible.Thank you (WEB)
