Anyone who likes western movies from the 1930s and 1940s will want this set. It has a little bit of everything from what was known as the "B" list that theater managers were given. The famous movies of the genre just aren't here. But no matter. Gene Autry, Roy Rogers, Tex Ritter, et al. are still a rootin' and a shootin'.Of special note is the movie "Rawhide," released in 1938 and starring Lou Gehrig of the New York Yankees in his only movie. He became ill shortly after that with the disease named for him and was gone from this earth before he could make another movie. His performance is a lot better than one might expect--better, certainly, than most other sports figures who made movies, including Babe Ruth and Red Grange. Gehrig plays himself, thinking to retire from baseball and move to the quiet of a western ranch with his sister. But he is confronted by a whole passle of bad guys who are running a protection racket for ranchers. Gehrig's sister is the usual movie blond, and she falls in love with a singing cowboy lawyer--yes indeedy. But I don't want to ruin this for you. It's just fun, even if it is silly.The transfers are probably as good as one can expect from those old black and white movies. Who thought, in 1938, that anyone would be watching them 70 years later?

I initially bought these to entertain my father when he has AT&T internet outages and / or his DirectTV Now streaming is on the fritz.I was pleasantly surprised at how good these cowboy movies are!The plots are captivating, plus the acting & real stunts were performed extremely well by young John Wayne, Tex Ritter, Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, and other great actors that personified the beloved White Hat cowboys who saved the territory from crooks and desperados. The female actresses were also superb in their roles.One or two movies were made in the the early 1940's, but the majority of them were made between 1932 and 1938.There are 50 classic cowboy movies on 10 DVDs that you would most likely enjoy seeing again and again.The price is right, and you can't lose if you like old black and white westerns.

If you like westerns, these are great. On majority of the movies the sound and picture were good--easy to see and hear. Would recommend for anyone who enjoys old movies with law and justice. You know, the bad guy, or gang, doesn't get away with doing bad things.

All fans of B-Western of the 30 und 40th must have this DVD.There are a lot of famous actors to see.This B-western reminds at that time, when this kind of movies had been shown at sunday afternoon for children or in the weekend late performance for older people.This DVD contains a lot of movies never shown in Germany.And so it is a "must" for german B-Western fans to watch this DVD with all the heros of the days when they had been young.Not only for german fans, for all B-Western fans.The DVD shows a lot of old movies and so the quality of the picture and the sound is different. There are some movies with not such a good quality and other with a good picture and sound. But as a Randolph Scott fan I am disappointed. On the cover there was listed "Heritage of the desert" with Randy. But on the DVD there is the remake of 1939 with Donald Woods.It doesn't matter, this DVD is a "must" for all friends of the B-Western and nostalgia black and white movies.

I'm 75 and grew up with this kind of entertainment which got olde fashioned as I grew up - I set it aside to watch the corruption and nonsense of thinking "right" isn't always right 'cause there is a gray area...or is that grey area? I love the purity of thesemovies and don't even notice it's black and white. Only thing I don't like is the men in the saloons...who are thosejerks...don't they have families and farm work to do...or stores to run? But truth is we too have those kind of people...wanting something for nothing. I also like strong women - and there are quite a few in movies of this era.Great buy and I recommend it - got more than my monies worth.

To be clear, some of the film is a little fuzzy, not bad though and to be expected considering how old some of the films are. Great choices throughout, Roy Rogers, John Wayne and Gene Autry, just to name some. Well worth the price. It may not be politically correct in all the scenes, however, this can be a discussion to have with your family and children about the right things to do and inclusiveness.

I just wanted to say how fast I got my John Wayne and other actors Cowboy Legends 50 movie DVD collection and pleased with the quick delivery. I have not watched the movies yet but expect them to be of good quality for quite old movies. Thank you.

Shows we we were hard up for entertainment back then. In Alabama were proud that Johnny Mac Brown made it to the movies. But in looking at what is available on netflix, many are an improvement. I have nixed netflix.

Enjoyed very much. These movies had class, action,adventure and some laughs. There was only one thing missing. No foul language or bed hopping. I am not eighty yrs old I am in my forties and love the classics. Hope you enjoy them too.
