Exactly what we needed. Excellent product

This is a very good anchor winch however, to be a traffic anchor winch you need to have a remote switch that comes with it. I sit in the back of my boat and I have to go forward to operate the winch. My old Minnkota winch had a remote switch that came with it and I had that for 15 yrs or so and it was just great. (until the parts gave out) I know I can purchase the remote switch for an additional amount but really it should have been included with the winch in the first place. Other than that I rate this as a very good anchor winch. [email protected]

Wanted to make life easier because my lil wife was having trouble pulling up the 22 lb Minn Kota Crab Claw anchor that we have on our 21 ft Jetcraft XS. So being the kind, considerate hubby that I am I started looking for a winch for the wench. She is thrilled with it. A touch of the button the anchor drops, kachunk, kachunk it finds a home, the auto-drift feature works flawlessly. When it is time to move on she simply hits the lift button and the anchor comes up into the davit and rides there well until needed again. This product does what Minn-Kota says it will do. The only improvement I would suggest is a remote switch as is available for their Deckhand 40 anchor winch. A good product indeed, at a reasonable price.

Unsure how well this unit will work seems to drain battery quickly as well as I ordered a new unit and obviously received a unit that was used at minimum pre opened, no instructions were received with unit, we shall see how it holds up

The item was installed per instructions and contacts with tech support. The DH 25 proved to be unusable for most of the one week fishing trip that it was purchased for use on. The rope continued to tangle and run off the side of the spool(inside the housing) and become inoperable. The unit had to be taken appart at least three times. The case was damaged when a tangle pulled the spool lose internally. When discussng this yesterday, the tech suggested an alignment problem. This is not the case, since the rope guide and unit is mounted on the nose of the boat directly behind, and in alignment with the davit. I suggested that the rope was installed incorrectly to begin with, and should be completely unwound and rewound. The tech agreed with the approach. There is nothing in the instructional manual that indicates that the rope may need to be rewound before initial use -- in the meantime, the unit is unusable and the case and rope are damaged. I will make the fix, again, and write this investment off as a disappointing purchase. I own other Minn Kota products , so was surprised at the lack of quality.

The plastic gears should be made of a better material

I mounted the deckhand on my 16.5 ft fishing boat with little trouble. It seems to work well. I'll be taking out on the water next week and we will see how well it works. I did cut off about 20 feet of the rope and greased up the switch as suggested by several reviewers.

It works as expected does a good job is quite noisy when you pull it up but if you’re pulling it up you’re Leaving that area anyway nice addition to my boat i’ve only used it twice good so far 👍👍👍
