A little noisy
I finally found a bowl my cat will drink out of! I've tried elevated bowls, bowls at an angle, wide and narrow bowls, and pet water fountains but none of them interested my cat till this. The only issue is that it's quite noisy until you do some tweaking. It helps to secure the cord, I found that if the cord was touching the bowl at all that the humming was much louder. It also helped to place a hand towel under the bowl. After these fixes the humming isn't noticeable until I'm close to the bowl or it's dead quiet.

Good watering bowl but get the one with reservoir and also get some spare filters
I was a little apprehensive about spending 60 bucks on a watering bowl but my male cat is a bit prone to urinary tract infections so I wanted to make sure that he and his sister had a good supply of clean water available at all times. I had a Drinkwell before and it was fine but it was a lot of work to clean, so I thought I would give this one a try instead. The good- it doesn't scare my very skittish Himalayans, it's a snap to clean, it does keep water fresh for a significantly longer period of time than a stagnant bowl, has a good capacity and is nearly silent. The bad- it has to be nearly full to the brim at all times. When it gets low, and I mean just a little low, it starts making this very loud CHOK CHOK CHOK noise that is really unpleasant at 3 am, which seems to be the only time it runs low. I see now why they offer the reservoir, it's not so you can go two months without adding water, it's so the bowl will stay full enough to avoid middle of the night emergency refills. And trust me, it is LOUD when it starts barking for more water, you can't ignore it.And that brings me to my biggest gripe, which you can avoid by reading this, get the reservoir. I thought, "well the water will get all slimy and nasty before two cats drink all that water", which is true. But it's not for that purpose, as I mentioned. So now, I have to order the reservoir for 25 bucks. bringing me up to 85 dollars for a freakin' water bowl, but that's not the best part. The best part is that the "CleanFlow Water Filter w/ Reservoir" is for sale for $48.43 and it is Prime eligible. So that means if you take my advice, you can have the same setup I have for roughly half the price....Thank K&H! Rrrrr!

Buy the reservoir
I bought this bowl for my cats without the reservoir because it was on sale and it looked like a good design.Pros: it filters the water well, no floating hair or dirt sitting in the water bowl anymore. It's simple to clean, I wait for the water level to get low, unplug it and wipe it down or wash it in the sink like a regular bowl. The filter slides in and out easily after lifting the lid.Cons: the filter is loud and on obnoxious when it needs to be refilled but that could also be a pro because it reminds you when to refill before the motor burns out. Also, the water evaporated very quickly due to the design because most of the water is exposed and swirling around. The design is great for dogs but for a cat I prefer the Catit style where the water is in a bowl underneath and flows up through a flower. I refill this every 2 - 4 days depending on the temperature. The Catit gets refilled 1 to 2 weeks.

Finally a good fountain
My cat and lab share this. We get a full day and sometimes longer out of each fill. After spending hundreds on Pioneer and Petsafe, this one just works. The filters last a month, unlike the weekly stoppage on those Petsafe filters.Overall better product and actually better value.

Updated review - noise problem resolved
It was perfectly silent for two days, and as soon as we added water to it, it became incredibly loud. You can hear it from the other room. If you're in the room with it (kitchen), you can't hear someone talking to you from another room, or as I like to do, watch TV while cooking. My downstairs neighbors wouldn't appreciate me blasting the TV volume so I can hear over a cat dish.My cat's preference doesn't affect the rating I gave, but she isn't gaga for it like I'd hoped. She may even drink less water than she did before.. Noise probably has something to do with it.---------------UPDATE: Weeks and weeks later, my husband and I came home from a short vacation, and the noise problem was inexplicably corrected. It hasn't made a peep since. Our 2 year old cat isn't a fan and still prefers the faucet, but our new kitten uses it just fine.

Fabulous! Kitty Loves It!!
I have purchased so many pet water fountains I only Dream I could get even half of my money back. I am not a person who usually writes reviews, But, this Water Fountain Calls for one. If you are still hesitant in buying it.. Please this is the one for your #Furbaby!Let me first mention that the standard fountains only run a drip of water from the top down into the bowl, kinda like a slide of water. No cat is impressed with that. At least not mine. This means that the water isnt moving or aerated. Quickly getting stagnant, and moldy. Clogging up the filter.Which brings me to this Awesome K&H Water Fountain. The water comes up from the center of the bowl like bubbles. No quicker did I add water to this fountain, my 18 yr old Picky Kitty came running over and was in Heaven playing with the water. This Momma was extremely happy!!Any other fountain I brought home he just looked at them... Thankyou Amazon and K&H!

Very difficult to get it to start pumping
It worked, but it was very difficult to get it to start pumping again after cleaning it. It required cleaning about twice a week. My cat's liked it, but to them it really wasn't all that different than the metal Bowl they were using before. I ended up putting a plastic Bowl in the sink, and letting water drip into it, and they like that the best. I returned this bowl because it was so difficult to get it to start pumping again. I had it for about 3 weeks. The cover was very difficult to remove when wanting to clean the filter or the pump. This is something that I think is not necessary, for $0.50 you can get a plastic bowl at Walmart and let the faucet drip into it, the cats will have constant fresh water. Also, I did not experience any problems with noise like many other reviews mentioned, on the other hand I could not get it to start pumping. That was extremely difficult and disappointing.

Great product!
I bought this hoping that it would encourage my 11 year old cat to drink more water (and also less toilet water). Since using this water bowl, my cat has drank a lot more water as evidenced by *ahem* litter box usage. He warmed up to it in 2-3 days and now drinks from it exclusively. For what it's worth, I previously tried a dome shaped fountain water bowl and he did not use it at all.The pump is barely noticeable and the bowl has a leak and spill-free design (unless the cat decides to play with it). At the time of purchase, the bowl with the included reservoir was significantly more costly; now that they are similar in price, I highly recommend getting the reservoir to reduce refills. Fortunately it is easy to refill (simply pour water into the bowl). If you hear vibrations or pump noise, try positioning the power cable so that it isn't touching anything. When the pump makes wheezing noises, it's time to refill!Update 2014-03-27:I thought I'd update this review to say that the fountain still works great. The pump is still going strong but the filter was clogged after a few months of use.Update 2015-07-27:Fountain is still working fine without any issues!

Quiet, easy to fill, easy to clean
I bought this product for mt cat, and am very happy with it. My cat's food and water area is approximately 5 feet from where my computer is, so I am frequently very near it, but can never hear it. Very simple to assemble, as well as take apart and clean.I did also buy the reservoir that goes with this item, and am very happy that I did. I have read other reviews that have said the pump will get noisy if the water level goes down a bit in the bowl, and the reservoir keeps that from happening.

) The whirl seemed nice and steady though
This is really noisy! I bought this one because I thought the other Cat Fountain I bought was too loud. Maybe I am not deaf enough ;) The whirl seemed nice and steady though.I gave it to my step-parents as a gift ;)
