I CANT GET IT T0 TALK, WHICH WAS THE MAIN REASON FOR MY BUYING IT..... AND THE WEBSITE FOR THE INSTRUCTION MANUAL IS DOWN. IT SHOULD NOT BE THIS COMPLICATED. I AM TOO LATE TO RETURN IT (JUST GOT SICK FOR THE FIRST TIME NOW) SO I AM THROWING IT INTO THE GARBAGE.

Clear and accurate

I have mostly been using this as an ear thermometer and it seems pretty accurate. My only issue is making sure I have it in the right spot if trying to use it in the dark because even after you click to get a temp it only lights up for a couple of seconds before it goes dark again. I guess it isn't the thermometer's problem to give me light though, haha.As a forehead thermometer it also seems ok, although a little bit lower, but it is difficult for me to get it to glide well across the forehead. I do like that I have the option to do ear or forehead.The most annoying thing to me about this is that if I take the temp, read the number and go to do it again right away it throws an error code ('Er 1'), which I can't seem to clear without shutting it off and turning it back on again. It doesn't seem to do it if I wait a little bit longer, but I don't want to sit around wasting time when trying to get temps in both of my kid's ears or taking the forehead twice, etc. Yes, it's only a few more seconds I think but I have never had a thermometer do that.

I was using a different type of infrared thermometer until a recent doctor's visit when the nurse told me those weren't the most accurate and that the best type of thermometer was the type inserted into the ear. I decided to try this one, and I haven't been disappointed. Since the probes on this are removable and washable, you don't need probe covers, and the digital display changes colors so you can see at a glance if your temp is normal, low-grade fever level, or high. The voice announcement might be helpful for certain people or in certain situations, but you do have the option to turn it off if it's something you don't want or need. This device is easy to use if you read the instructions! The power button and settings button are on one side of the thermometer and the button to start taking a reading is on the other. This is great because it means you're not going to accidentally change your settings. It also has a feature allowing you to save your readings (up to 30) in case you're charting your temperature. This device was well thought out by the manufacturer who made it easy to use for anyone even if you're visually or hearing impaired. It comes in a handy case that makes it easy to keep everything together and I'm glad to have this for those times when knowing your temperature is critical.
