The Encyclopedia of Pastel Techniques: A Unique Visual Directory of Pastel Painting Techniques, With Guidance On How To Use Them

I am just starting to learn how to work with pastels, so I found this to be a great resource!

I am looking for books for colored pencils and this didn’t show much!

This is the best book I've ever read on pastels. It doesn't just include soft pastels, but includes a nice variety of information on oil pastels. I've been using oil pastels for about 5 years and I learned some new things about them.I recommend this book for anyone beginner to expert. There's something for everyone.My belief is if I've learned one thing from a book, I believe it was worth the purchase.

I should have sent it back… I was hoping for more instructions on how to blend, etc. this book does a beautiful job of exploring the different mediums though

This is a very good book that has a-lot of information about pastels that I haven’t seen in my other books, including the use of oil pastels as well as soft pastels. I recommend this book!

I have purchased many books and videos over the year, all proclaiming to give step-by-step instruction and guidance on becoming a pastel artists. By far, this is the best purchase I have made. It does describe each of the techniques and then shows you the technique, even giving you ideas of how to practice it. For anyone interested in learning pastel techniques, this is the first book you should buy.

I didn't know that I could of gotten a refund within seven days of ordering this book. Now that I know it's too late. The book is a great book to read in print form. This has nothing to do with the author of the book. I wish that whom ever formats these books for kindle would make sure that they are formatted correctly.

As a newcomer to the art of pastel painting I found this Encyclopedia to be very helpful. It covers a variety of techniques which are explained and illustrated well. I'm very glad I bought this book.

This is an excellent book that take you step by step and answers all the many questions you might have. Not every relevant book do the same.

This is more than an encyclopedia of pastel techniques. It's a picture book of many styles of pastel drawings, a how-to manual on how to select pastels and paper, and choose techniques appropriate to your subject--and more. There isn't too much to read, but what there is, is very informative. Highly recommend.
